I read about this today in the new issue of Autoweek. What I am wondering is whether or not this will open the door for the Pontiac G8 World Challenge car that I would love to see. I am not sure how simple it would be but they could bring over the Commodore V8 Supercar and make the necessary styling changes to give it a Pontiac look. I believe GM is changing the style for the upcoming Bahrain race, where the Commodore is sold as a Chevy Lumina. So why not change it a little for us?

Now imagine that with a Pontiac grill. I am sure it is a long shot but I would love to see it. Now talk amongst yourselves.

Damn - thats sad. I like watching what factory teams are capable of.

Who knows if they'll be back. The CTS-V will have over 500 HP and not really be a good road course car with a roots-style blower on it. :(

Minimum weight is 3164 pounds with driver and they make about 625 horses. The V8 Supercars are one of my favorite race series on the planet. I like production based racing.

I like production based racing.

um?

That car is as close to a commodore as a GTO.R was to a GTO.

Oh and that car would not be up to spec for Speed World GT.

I shall revise my statement to silhouette racing, but they do use production bodyshells, albeit heavily modified. Like the Porsches, Ferraris, and Corvettes of the ALMS, both Speed GT and Touring, British and World Touring Cars, etc.

They are probably leaving for ALMS because they now have a special four-door class in GT.

So... anyone going to graph the G8 grill on that pic in a little photochop? Looks cool.

Pratt and Miller/Cadillac Racing have already sold the CTS-V's. So we may still see them next year, but without factory support. More pics of the Lumina V8 Supercar...

They changed the car to a Buick when racing in Shanghai.
