: Some more good Pedders news for me!
Frank at Rocksand Racing is going to complete the rest of my Track II plus STB imstallation. I'll be getting the sway bars, radius Rod bushes, caster lockwashers and STB. I've been driving for a couple of months with the the eqiv of a Street II so this will let me report on the changes.
If anybody in the mid-Atlantic is thinking about any Pedders work, keep Rocksand in mind. They do great work and you couldn't ask for better guys to work with.
My First GTO 08-31-2008, 10:32 PM Ed It was Great to see you Today and Do the Rest of Your G8.....Frank and Walt
Frank and Walt. Thanks for the GREAT job with the install. To tell you the truth I was surprised by the change. I was expecting a nice improvement but this is off-da-hook.
Even with the adjustable bars set at medium setting the reduction in body roll is amazing. This thing is flat. What I noticed first is that the car responds immediately. Without being twitchy or anything like that it just responds to inputs with no lag, no lean, no roll. Truely amazing, especially in light of the great ride quality.
Something that I didn't expect was the way the brakes feel during heavy braking. I don't know why but it just feels like it is stopping better. I don't know how to describe it but I can feel it. I don't see how the sway bars could be involved. Nor the STB and that only leaves the front Radius Rod Bushings by process of elimination. Is this something you expected?
I hope to come up next Saturday for your Pedders Day and Rocksand Racing GTG. Congrates on your 10.03 @ 137. Think what it would be if you got rid of your GTO's A/C and interior.
Thanks again for the great service. Walt is the best wrench I've seen and you really do a great job of supervising.:wink2::wink2:

So explain specifically how the ride and brakes feel after the install.
Frank adn Walt were excited aqbout doing your job. Frank even called me when they were bottoning up the front sway bar, which is alittle challenging and much more difficult than a GTO. The rear bar is a piece of cake
thanks

Thanks Dede. I had an oil change the day before driving to Rocksand Racing and the idiot let the old filter slip sideways and dumped the contents onto the side of the pan. I'm keeping tabs on the level and it is fine. It didn't look near as bad in real life yesterday as the flash makes it look in the photos.
Thanks for looking out for me and i will watch the level even closer, just in case.
You all know how much I loved the equiv of the Street II that I had installed. It totally transformed the car from a sporty sedan into a sports sedan. Well, the addition of the sway bars and radius rod bushes in conjunction with the STB have taken it to another level. Hard to explain until you have tried it and have a frame of reference. It is sort of like trying to describe sex with twin sisters :thumbsup:to someone who thinks sex is spanking his monkey.
Response is "right now!" and precise. Rapid transitions from side to side are lightening fast. I didn't know a 4000lb car could do this. It feels much lighter than it's size and weight would predict.
Please, if you get a chance to drive one, DO IT.
Ok, homestly, not everybody will be can appreciate this suspension. This is not a dig on anybody. A lot of people say, "Why do you need 400HP? My [fill in blank] does great and has all the power I need or want." Or, "Why do you need those Peddler thingies? My [fill in blank] handles great and it is all i need." This suspension is probably more than many can fully appeciate. If the "over-temp" light on your personal tilt meter kicks on at .7Gs, save your money. But, on the other hand, if you get-off pushing yourself and want to feel a car that is not the limiting factor, you have GOT to experience this.
The day before yesterday, my "tilt-meter" redline and the capabilities of the car were pretty even. Today, I'm the limiting factor. I've been out playing and have over 250 miles in this suspension and have been pushing my envelope a little at a time. I have yet to have this G8 even whisper, "Better back-off a little." Not a wimper. If anything, it is "More. Let's go."
So, there you have it. Take it for what it is worth. I'm happy. In 42 years of driving I've never owned anything this superb. The street I and II are great values and really make a very, very good car even better. The track II makes it, well, like sex with twins and getting it on film.

just watch for it. If it was just around the filter, I wouldn't say anything. But you have oil leaks on the front passenger side of the pan and also if you look closely, you'll see how it runs all the way down to your transmission oil pan cover which normally carries over from the regular oil pan during driving.
And also I paid attention to your pictures because I had the same issue and bolts on my oil pan were loose.
First thing in the morning I'm going back and have them recheck everything. I'll have them clean it to see if it continues. thanks a lot.

Ed,
It was a pleasure seeing you on Sunday. Glad you like the way the car handles with the addition of the Bars, STB and RD Bushings. Keep the rubber side down!
Walt
Your brakes will stop and feel better with the front raduis rod bush. Your bushing is no longer soft and gooey and will transmit braking energy faster and stronger

Ok. I didn't know how to describe it. It felt like the brakes reacted faster, if that makes sense.

Thanks Walt. The pleasure was all mine. I will see you and Frank next Saturday for your Pedders Day and GTG. Cliff is going to join me too.
Let's hope for sun and not rain!
Thanks again.

I have noticed some weepage on mine too. I believe TSB 08-07-30-024 covers this issue. I have not taken mine back to the dealer yet though.
JusticePete 09-04-2008, 04:32 PM The oil weep is interesting. Overall, I would have to say the G8 is a very dry vehicle as far as fluids. Mine has a ProCharger on it along with some serious track use. It is the dryest vehicle I have ever owned as are most I have seen on lifts.
How common is this issue for those of you on the fourm?
