PMD - thanks for posting the shots from Desertraptor, great to see they are on thier way! So far the shots are V6's based on the wheels.

BTW - the person who shot those at LS1GTO said they were not loading onto the ship the normal way (driving them on) but instead onto double deck containers, some said maybe it was so they can load onto a train directly, other said that GM learned thier lesson from the GTO suspension issues.

The container thing sounds neat. Cars can sit there for awhile. The green tarp is for hail protection because they have no insurance for it at the dock. He got past the electric fence.

Last time I was there the place was packed with GTO's.

Hmmm, we don't cover cars here from hail and bird poop. Maybe they're on to something we ought to look at. But also no train car "tagging" in Oz to worry about.

Supposedly what these should be is first 888s. #351 is about halfway through. We'lll see if they all start with 5515... by March. I do see some two-tone interiors in te hmix. Good. Cannot tell about sunrooofs, as if there they are covered up.

OK, I get it. Just a little confusing posting GTO pics in a thread about loading up G8s, that's all. But I'll stand by my I still don't see any sunroofs in what are to be teh first 888 (pics in post 1)

Just giving us an idea of what the covered dock area looks like. Also I now know the reason why it is there. :)

Thanks DY for posting those. I've never seen them before. BTW when were those photos taken?

So if they travel by car carrier to California, there is always a possibility of getting them thus:

See Cargolaw:

Or if they are put in a container, then crossing the Pacific could mean this:

The trade reports in AU seem to think the G8 will be joined by a PONTIAC Ute and Wagon.

Cool pics. But how about that V6 wheel, what's with the slab of sticky balance weights on the wheels? It must have half a pound of lead on it to balance it. YIKES!!!

I can't tell what brand tires from those pics...

Top tire (V6) looks like Goodyear Eagle RS.

Top tire (V6) looks like Goodyear Eagle RS.I agree, if the V6 wheel photo is lightened, you can see they are Goodyear Eagle RSA's - all season rubber. Also the stock GT 18" wheel on the black car has the GY RSA's on it also (look at the tread design).

The 19" wheels on the Black GT has Bridgestones based on the rear 2/3's shot of the tread pattern.

This confirms what asylum indicated in the tire thread.

Bridgestone Potenza REO50A Pole Position

Nice shots, thanks for sharing! So is that last wheel a GT option or available on a V6 as well?

the last wheel is the standard GT, the middle is the option for both models, the top is the standard G8

I'm still confused. The 19 inch wheels are Bridgestone, but what kind of Bridgestone tires? It can't be the Bridgestone Potenza REO50A Pole Position because I thought that tire was an all-season tire, and the 19 inch tires on the G8 are supposed to be summer only tires?

The potenza RE050A are summer only tires

Thanks, this is very helpful.
One more question. I'm getting the 19 inch summer tires on my G8. For winter, can I go with snow tires on 18 inch rims, or do I have to stick with 19 inch rims and tires for winter as well? Can you mix and match 18 and 19 inch rims for this car?

J Wikoff

The brake options are all the same, so as long as you keep the overall outer diameter of the tires the same to keep the ABS/TC happy, you'll be fine.

Wow, I didn't notice that until I read your post. That's a ***** load of weights.

I wonder if dealers will be replacing tires and wheels on the G8 like they did on several GTOs for being out of round or way out of balance?

Yeah, probably one of the pre-production test vehicles that some people have seen running around the streets of Michigan.
