Yesterday I got in the mail the new Pontiac Performance "magazine" (more like adzine).
It has a 4 page article on the G8 and a few other smaller articles that feature/discuss the GTO.
Here's the cover taken with my iSight.

DY if you haven't gotten this already, want to borrow mine to scan it for the site?

Mine came in the mail yesterday as well. There was a good mention in article about the handling of the today's RWD cars with traction and stability control.

Can we believe what they said in the article about the handling of the today's RWD cars with traction and stability control?

Many car manufacturers offer it on their vehicles, FWD and RWD. The technology has been out for a while and it works. So, I'd say Yes.

Haven driven my GTO through two winters, I can say the technology is a lifesaver! With the added stability control on the G8 and the 50/50 weight distribution, the G8 will handle even better in the ice/snow.

In the winter, do you drive your GTO on all-season tires or snow tires? Also, how does it compare with front wheel drive? Same? Better? Worse?

All-Season tires. One winter on the stock BFG KDWS tires, and last winter on a set of KUMHOs that had a better snow rating. Those in the club who used some good snow tires, like the Blizzaks were kicking butt in the snow.
The only major issue I had was up hills and getting traction due to the difference in weight distribution and not the best snow tires. Being 50/50 would help so much more.
Better or worse? Hard to say, I'd say about the same or no major noticeable difference beyond power difference between my Grand Prix and GTO.

The traction control on the GTO and the ESC on the G8 are worlds apart. The TC on the GTO was slow, clunky and pretty primative. The stability control on the G8 is incredibly precise and non intrusive, and is said to be better than the offerings from BMW.
just as an fyi to above... stability control is going to be a federal requirement in a couple years. Because of this GM is just getting on the bandwagon before they have to by integrating it on all new MY vehicles.
