I haven't tuned an LS1 based care in over a year now and when I tried to connect my HPTuners scanner to my G8 I was not able to get the table for logging STFT and LTFT to come up. I just says it is an unsupported parameter. Any ideas?

First thing I would try is get the latest version of the software, esp if its over a year old.

Right now Tony at HP Performance here in jacksonville, fl is in the middle of 2 days of tuning mine after Roto-fab CAI, Kooks LTH and catted x-pipe. The only problem he has encountered is certain O2 reading settings. Other than that, his HP Tuner hand-held has had no problems.I have his contact info if this would help.

There is no Primary VE table in a G8 as there is in an LS1 pcm, so you'll need to customize your histograms around this fact and not use the generic LS1 histograms which do not apply to the G8 for the most part.

Yeah, he said that. It keeps kicking codes and CEL for O2. Its all greek to me, but I know he will fix it. He has done a few cars of mine so I trust him. Besides, arent the VE tables for non maf systems? Mine is still maf'ed.

That is sort of what I was thinking. I haven't seen much information on the HPTuners forum regarding this. Are the LS3 cars the same way? Do you do all of the tuning with the MAF to get your A/F's where they need to be or is there some other table that took place of the VE that needs to be adjusted?

Thanks in advance.

The VE tables are used even on cars with a MAF in place.

I don't see how you guys are able to do a tune without voiding your dealer warranty. I just had a question about that, since I would love to have a tune but not void my warranty. I'm sure you guys will let me know the ends and outs.

I plan on buying a spare PCM for my car ;)

Just put the stock tune back if you need to.

Bill, is there a place on the HP Tuners forum that details some of this? It sounds like the G8 is a bit different than LS1 (or other GMs for that matter).

If you do that, there's no way for them to see it's been flashed? Just curious cause I've never tuned an FI car.

Not that I know of, the stock tune would match exact.

For those of you worried about the warranty look into the Vector stealth tune or buy a spare pcm. There is a lot of information regarding this topic here on the board.

Theres tons of information on our forum regarding how the E38/E67 pcm's work. Both of those pcm's are very similar as is the E40, however the E40 has a standard VE table.
