Well, mostly o/seas Holden stuff. But methinks within a few months we'll have lots of options from the USA aftermarket. I want an OTR or similar add-on with MAF.

This one looks more aggressive. I would love to know the HP gain after mod. I'm sticking with very minor upgrades due to this car being a lease.

Does anyone think the GXP will be supercharged? That's the one I'll buy!

It would be my preference, as I'm a proponent of extracting easy hidden hp at the tap of the throttle. For me, and mpg, s/c is the way to go. But I don't think even any of the trucks have a s/c V8 so basically GM hasn't offered s/c in anything larger than a 3800 V6. But right now the 6.2 LS3 in the 'vette is 430 hp so how high do they need to go in a GXP? S/C the L76 and go easily over 400 and keep the gas guzzler tax at bay.

They have S/C'ed the Northstar (4.4L) in the STS-V. It looks like the intake manifold/intercooler arrangement on it will be very similar to the LS9.

Sure is.

Current aussie bolt on record uses the Russo intake

12.0@113.5mph

Btw, i ran this intake on my wifes car the other night at the track. Car is 4200lbs and it ran a 13.2@105mph with this intake.

lsx-438: 13.2 nice time! I'm assuming it's a Commodore? Is it a VE, and is it an LS2 or L76?

Also, what mods do you have on your wife's car to get it to run a 13.2!??

Mods to run this time were

1. Russo Intake
2. Tune to match

The car was otherwise 100% stock. Including tyres (18" factory bridgestones) and gears (2.92s!). Remember this car weighs 120kg (250lbs) more than commodore (it's like a LWB limo version). There's a little write up here:

Hey lsx-438, thanks for posting this info. It is good to know the potential these cars should have with minor bolt-ons. Based on the info I have been hearing, I was afraid that a G8 would be a step back from my mildly modified GTP that managed a 13.68 @ 101.44. I really don't want to go slower. I don't plan to go crazy modding the G8 once I buy it, so it's nice to know that minor things will get me well into the 13s, and bigger changes later could bump into the 12s or better.

The G8 weighs about 250lb LESS than the Caprice. Personally i think they should be able to run a 12 out of the box (with a tune).

Most of the links seem to be broken.

There are a lot of "bolt-on" LSx holdens in the low 12's, and even a few who made high 11's down here. They nearly all have headers/exhaust/diff and run track tyres though. Getting on to run a 12 with factory diff/tyres and exhaust is not so common though, especially with the new VE commodore being heavier. I dont think anyone has run a 12 with a completely "stock" car yet (VE commodore) and i dont think they ever will.

The Russo Performance OTRCAI system was used recently to run a 12.0@113mph (Friday the 4th Jan) - bolt on car. Here is a video of the run:

Should do fine. As long as you don't drive into water that is up to the height of the radiator, you should be fine.

Certainly no more risk than running a regular pod or even driving the factory airbox through waste high water anyway.

I can't remember exactly why. I think it has something to do with making it easier to tune. I don't see the reason here in the US. Plus, most of the Aussie OTR system are built to accept the MAF.

I think with those three mods combined they were getting a 40 - 50hp jump.

Here is another example: http://www.ls1.com.au/forum/showthread.php?t=75838&highlight=12+sec

I think you can find several examples on that site.

I don't know if I could bring myself to cut the plastic over the radiator area to install that OTR intake. It would be better if there was a replacement plastic cover that was made for the intake to fit in it.

Here is the reply I got from Russo about getting an intake here in the US for a G8 ;)

Hi Sean
im sure our intake will fit the g8 as it is the same as our commodore ss
we do have a prototype that will take a maf but we didnt bother making
them as we in Australia love tuning maffless.
with the interest we have been getting from the US market we relise now
that we have to put maf version into production.
We will have no trouble shipping it to the US as we have so far shipped
them to the UK Barain NewZeland and so on
If you guys are interested in tuning maffless we have units ready to go ,
if you are interested in a maf setup you will have to wait a few weeks.

regards Justin

I have run this OTR for some time and there is NO issue with water. I've even run i through a car wash, and it was essentially bone dry. Some people in australia have been concerned and Russo have installed a simple drain plug, however i don't think it's an issue. People have been using this style intake for years on other models and it's never been a problem.

Yes the radiator is leaned back. The OTR comes with a kit including special brackets. These intakes have been used to set several records in australia, including the current bolt-on record for VE Commodore.
