Well in three months the G8 will be here light at end of the tunnel:driving:

Also will be rolling out first in the Southern states since winter which is good for me cause I live in Alabama. :us_flag:

Can't wait to test it out would get V6 Auto with just a lip spoiler and a few other additions although will just have to get whats shipped over here especially till fall probably but its just great its almost here.

I'm hoping the boat is on it's way to Benicia CA., Oakland Bay area. If so, I might see my G8 GT before the end of March. A straight shot North about 800 miles by truck or train would plunk it down in the Seattle area.......if the whole West coast doesn't self distruct and fall into the frikkin' ocean .

The captured test fleet vehicles are already running around on the streets.

I am thinking of ordering the GT with the performance summer tires in the 40 profile.

I wish it were available in a stick since you know the Camaro is going to have one in essentially the same car.

the Camaro isn't running the L76

No but it is still a GM small block. Mounting is similar I believe.

the block technically isn't the problem, the problem is no doubt with the cylinder de-activation never been done with the manual.

the Camaro is going to have LS2 or LS3? which don't have any problems running manuals.

the reason other LHD and RHD zeta's have manual V8's, is they use either the L98 or LS2

Reckon they will have any of the production versions at any of the upcoming auto shows?

I am pretty sure they taken care of the DOD. It is a gas guzzler tax that I think they are worried about. That's the last I heard anyhoo.

If they're coming into Benicia, I live about an hour from there. Do you think they'll let me go to the docks and pick one out from there? :)

If so, look for a Grey metallic GT with my name on it.

Keep any other for yourselff.

Interesting. I think the software would not be hard to make work, but it might take some effort to truly optimize it for a manual. Would the 6 speed manual have a gas guzzler issue??

Unless GM has some plan for holding them at the docks for awhile after they arrive I'm going to say that West Coast dealers will be seeing them in about 5-6 weeks with East coast dealers seeing them in 7-8 weeks.

the Camaro isn't running the L76

Proof?

The Camaro could very well end up having the L76 in a mid-level model. That said, nobody, aside from GM employees truly know what will be in the engine bay of the next-gen Camaro. Anyone saying otherwise, like yourself, is talking out of their ass.

Doesn't asylum build G8's at the plant in Australia?

LS2 is getting canned so the LS3 can take over which runs on 87 regular compare to the premium fuel on the LS2. Engine wise base Camaro's could be either the 3.9L 240HP+ flex fuel V6 or 3.6L VVT DOHC/3.6L DI (Direct Ignition) engine but I doubt they would put that engine in it might kill the V8 performance. As for V8's why not the LS3 or 6.2L engine with 380-407HP that powers the GMT900's.

So, by the time schedule above, east coast dealerships should have G8's around the beginning to mid Febuary?

Good news to know since many dealerships know nothing.

got the magazine in the mail today, just thought i'd quote a bit of information listed:

1st boat set sail 28th November, with 3 more shipments in December, plus another 30,000 in 2008.

the 1st shipment of 1500 is heading to Benicia, scheduled to arrive January 25 for the official launch in march 2008 (which i'd guess the other December shipments would have arrived by then)

the ship in the main photo says "Coral Highway, Panama"

i'm guessing as its only a shipment of 1500, it'll have other cargo and stopovers, not a direct sail from Australia to California

true not many people know exactly what motor the Camaro will be running, but if they cant get the manual L76 sorted by the start of production, i seriously doubt they'll be using that...

and next time, try not to be so rude?

Something's fishy. The Coral Highway set sail 11/29. That's nearly 3 weeks before the big press release announcing the first production shipment. I wonder if the photo was staged well in advance. Or maybe this 11/29 shipment was the first few corp. vehicles.

Silver isn't one of the colors for '08. They will have a "magnetic Gray".

In the end, they'll all show up here in the states for the launch date, no matter where they're going at sea now. Maybe we're being a bit too obsessive? hehehe

Wouldn't surprise me. GM is getting pretty tight. A few years ago the limit was at least $2,000 on a 30k vehicle.
