I sent a reply to the last email I received from this dealer saying I know he couldn't come up with a deal that would be right for me, and gave him the particulars and said sorry to waste your time.

Today, I get an email from this guy that says just come by and make me an offer. Are the G8s just not selling or is it just car dealers in general?

Think I will go talk to him and just see what he says.

With no GMS pricing, I wonder what type of deal he's willing to make. That said, I recall that one of the dealers I talked to here said that they were definitely willing to make deals on V6 G8s compared to the GTs. So, if you were looking for a V6, I'm guessing you'll probably find something.

For sure, the auto dealerships are hurting these days, so you never know. FWIW.

I don't see any reason you couldn't haggle them down to GMS pricing. Think of it this way, they're hurting now, if they won't accept your offer today, then wait a month. Things aren't going to get any better for them any time soon.

Are you looking for an 08 or 09 ? GT or V6 ? All 08's have $1000 cash allowance or 0% for 48 months. There are 08 GT's still on some dealers lots around Atlanta area.

Yes, they are definitely hurting. That said, it will be tougher to get someone to go down to GMS pricing than it would be to get them to invoice. Some people are better at negotiating than others. :wink2:

The economy will dip hugely come November/December and on. Regardless of who loses this election (because lets face it, there will be no winners this year), a huge percentage of the country will go into Doom and Gloom fear and panic mode. Economists are already predicting this holiday season will be the worst in many many years. Once that happens, the sickness will surely spread from retail out to the rest of the economy.

Point being, if you're in a position to wait, you have nothing to lose. I decided to ride out my car until at least January/February. I've been watching the used markets for them, they're trending down VERY quickly. A lot of places were trying to sell them for 30k barely used, now they're trying 28k, and many are trying 26k. I think it's reasonable to say that the very, very low mileage loaded out ones will settle somewhere around 24k, maybe a little less.

There's a loaded out one on eBay right now with everything for 26k with 2k miles. Patience is a virtue.

Yeah, is this your first time buying a car? "Come by and make me an offer" means "if you come by I know you're a sucker that once he smells the new car he won't be able to say 'no' and I can work the deal however I want without him noticing".

If by "Alpharetta dealer" you mean Carl Black, I wouldn't expect them to come down too much on price. They sell very well around here, they weren't dealing much at all on GTOs when other dealers were letting them go for $8k off MSRP. I'd imagine the G8 GTs are selling well too, considering every time I drive by there they have different colors than the last time.
