I to recieved a call from my dealer today, Said I can now reserve my GXP but has no price. He told me there will actually be no ordering or allocating. They are a high volume dealer and will be recieving 4 GXP's. He said there will be a set number built each year and no ggt on 6spd manual. He said they are expecting them in february or march. He also said that Stryker Blue is not available on the GXP because it is not selling well, Can anyone confirm this? If interested he said come down and put down a 500$ refundable deposit to get on the list, they have 15 people interested but list started today and I could still be the 1st on it. What should I do? SHould I hope he is wrong on color and get on the list anyway, and hope price is where I want it?

Stryker blue should be available. Many posts have been made on this forum that there will be no colors specific to the GXP & all '09 G8 colors would be available for the GXP. Maybe the dealer knows more than they want to tell you. Maybe they have already allocated their specific GXPs & none of them are Stryker Blue. But, they still want to sell their GXPs.

well as of 2 mins ago he said they are getting a red auto and a black manual. My name is on the manual unless I change my mind. Hope they get blue later. told me there will be only 9 here in AZ in the valley.

Don't want to be a kill joy, but research on this forum seems to prove that dealers, with few exceptions (SD for one), are a poor source for information not officially released yet. Maybe SD will confirm on some of this info, or someone with the connection to Mr Hopson at GM will find out the good word for us all?

Black/Black 6spd manual is the manual car that they say they are getting for sure. Id rather hold up for a white one but who knows I might be pretty anxious when I take it on a test drive :)

stickjohnsonaah, i think you might be reading that wrong. they aren't excluding any of the base 2009 colors for the GXP. What they are saying is that the GXP Red Instrument Panel graphics WILL NOT be available with certain colors... among them Sport Red, Stryker Blue and Pacific Slate.

So, I think you are OK on color... at least based on this.

BTW, I have a hard time believing Stryker isn't selling well. At least here on the east coast, there are like 5 Styker 2009's total. Everything else is the other colors. There is like 1 stryker within 50 miles of me, vs over 200 of the others. I'd say they are both limited in production AND are sold out.

Dude, not to rain on your parade, I'm waiting for one as well, but don't you find it odd that they have 15 people interested but if you call now and put money down you can be first on the list?? I don't care what car it is, ALL dealerships are absolutely dead right now. It's just another sales tactic.

i pulled my " reserve" on the black gxp. my fleet manager talked to his zone manager and said in 2 weeks they will have more to tag. so pretty much when the price is out. then i will have my deposit down on the actual car. zone manager said they expect to have 17 to tag for the valley and Im hoping my dealer takes more than 2. they had the option to take 4 of the available 9 and only took 2. morons. he also said to expect a 6m in 2010 for all versions of g8 to be available, hopefully that is true. Maybe its all BS, i dont know. But he couldn't provide proof so Im thinking BS.

Hmm, this rumor of the 6M in all G8 models is interesting. I love the G8, but I must have a manual transmission again. That was the main reason I was looking at a G8 GXP. If I could get a G8 GT with a 6M, then I'd have to do some thinking. I wasn't planning to get mine until Spring 2010 anyway, so by then things should be sorted out. I just know whatever G8 model I get it will be a manual transmission car. I can't wait to see a G8 GXP in person, but it will probably be awhile for those of us in the upper Midwest. Probably the first chance will be the Chicago Auto Show in February.

If they offer a 6M on the GT it will mean they have solved the problems with the manual and the AFM, or have put in a different engine, or will only offer it with the DI V6 which is a very high probability.:wink2:

Where'd you hear this rumor, out of curiosity? So far as I knew, the manual tranny wasn't going to be available on the GT simply because of the AFM.

Let me be very clear about this. I don't have any type of "inside information" or official contacts. I just read this from a few different sources in different posts around this site. Some of it came from a dealer, but we all know that very few of them really have a clue (my apologies to the few exceptions who frequent this board!). I suspect that even if it is true, GM won't give any kind of official confirmation until they have all of the 2009 GXPs accounted for. They won't want people like me to possibly pass on the more expensive GXP (with more power, better handling, and braking admittedly), for a cheaper GT with a manual transmission. I realize that I am part of a dying breed of people who actually prefer to shift their own gears. I just know if I end up buying the more expensive GXP, then I will be leaving it bone stock well past the warranty. If I get a GT with a manual, then I would consider modding it sooner with the money I saved. I am still leaning towards the GXP even for more money because it will be rare. I like driving something that not everyone else around me has one of too.
