Can someone please tell me the steps for security relearn?

I just had to do one yesterday.

Turn the ignition to the ON position and leave it like that for 10 mins.

Turn it to off for 5 seconds.

then back to ON for 10 mins

then off for 5 seconds


do that 3 times.

Mine worked after the second one. so 20 mins

What is a security relearn?

You can't just take a pcm out of one car and use it in another one like the old days with out reflashing it and re installing the vin number for the car that you are using it in. The car's security system however has to "relearn" the new pcm even though it has the proper vin installed. This "relearn procedure" allows the pcm to comunicate with the security computer in your car. With out following the relearn procedure the security computer thinks someone is trying to hotwire the car and it will not allow it to start.
