This is an opportunity for you USA guys to show the aussie members your current ride that will either be sold or traded for a G8. It makes it easier for us to relate and also get to see what you are stepping from. So, if you are buying a G8 and have a car that's being traded or sold to make the purchase......post up your pics, your opinion of that
ride & your reason for buying a car that's mostly unseen and untested in the flesh.

I'm currently driving my 2004 Cadillac Deville DTS which will be traded in on a new White Hot G8GT as soon as I can get my hands on it.

The luxury of the Cadillac is wonderful, but I miss the performance of a sport car. To give you an idea of some of my past vehicles, I've owned a 79 Camaro, 95 Mustang GT, 98 Camaro SS, and a 2001 Z28 w/mods. I've also owned many trucks and sedans by the big 3 here in the US (GM, FORD, DODGE). Even though my Cadillac DTS is the Touring Sedan version with the upgraded suspension and more HP, it's still not close to the feel of a sport car. Plus the price difference between my Cadillac and my new Pontiac is great. My caddy was 56k, and my G8GT should top out around 33k which equals a shorter lease term and lower monthly payments.

I've had several problems with the steering gear assembly on my Cadillac (before the dubs). It's been replaced twice and needs replaced again (first two times covered under warranty). The build quality of this Cadillac doesn't equal the price I paid. I have had a better built vehicle by Dodge with less problems, and that's saying something. I can't wait to get rid of this P.O.S boat and get into the new G8GT! I've also owned a black 98 Pontiac Grand Prix 4 door and loved it. I never had any problems with my Pontiac, so based on past experiences, I will trust Pontiac until they fail me.

I've wanted a Holden since I first saw them years ago, and with this new version being "the best built yet", I cant wait to experience it myself.

I will try and sell/trade my Mazda speed6 4 banger turbo 6M AWD on a G8. I steered away from Pontiac because my 04 GP left a bad taste in my mouth and it is time to go back. I have owned a 93, 00 and 04 GP's and all of them modded.

I currently own a 2005 Grand Prix GT which I want to trade or sell for the new G8 V6 with premium package. My GP is a really nice car with very low miles but I have problems with a tranny 2 different dealers have rebuild the tranny 4 times and they still cannot get it to work right. They say GM does not want to pay for a new one so they keep rebuilding it. I want something more sportier to try out. hopefully I will be able to get an 08 for the right price if not I will wait for 09 models.

That's probably because it isn't a tranny problem. ;)

Anyways, I'm trading my 06 G6 Coupe. Its definately under-rated for the most part. It rides smoothly, and steering doesn't take alot of effort to keep a smooth curve. It comes with 200HP, not bad for the weight, so I'm not complaining. However, it has some rattling issues with the sound system, as well as a rogue rattler here and there. I'd give it an 8 out of 10. Its a good car, but its not THAT good.

All in all, I'm a sedan guy, as I've found out. The decision isn't final, but I'm definately excited to give it a try. We'll see if I like it still after that. :) I probably will.

If I do buy a G8 I will likely trade or sell my 2007 Corvette C6, A6.

There are many, many reasons I am considering the G8.

After close to 20,000 miles of Daily Driver, Commuter, Grocery Getter duty in my C6, I believe that the Corvette is a terrific GT car – particularly for the price.

But I now want to return to a Sport Sedan.
The G8 GT \ V8 appears to be the closest thing to a 4DR Corvette available for under $40K.

My first post, yay.
I'm planning on selling my old '95 Mitsubishi 3000GT for a G8 GT. For me its a huge upgrade, more power, more room, and more safety features(important to my fiancee). I'm so excited about the G8 I can't wait for it.

I'll be trading in my baby of just a year now. It's got 31k miles on the clock and is in mint condition. (I will attempt selling privately first)

and no, this is not in front of my house. :)

Trade?

I hope to never trade anything again. I'll buy vehicles from now on and drive them until they are a pile of rust. If it can be maintained and driven it stays. If not, then to the salvage yard it goes.

I hope this works. 2000 SSEi DD. Still surprises a few Mustang GT's even with 90,000mi.

http://mywebpages.comcast.net/r.penguin/bonnie.jpg

Best car I ever owned & it has everything but heated seats. Just time for a change.
In my opinion, the G8GT is just a lot more car and still has all the bells & whistles I like on the Bonnie.

Man, I wish I had your luck with vehicles.

I've never had much luck hanging on to rides very long. I either get hit by some dumb@ss running into me on the road not paying attention or it starts to break down often, I don't want to be inconvenienced with repairs. And yes, my vehicles stay well maintained, although I do drive like I'm in a Vette. I now lease everything, typically because there is always a better vehicle (G8GXP) that I will want right around the corner, and leasing is the easiest way for me to get into one.

Oh well, that's my fitty cents worth.

Peace

may seem a bit odd coming from australia, but i've been thinking about upgrading my Mitsubishi Magna (Diamante) for a while now, its still one of my favourite looking cars, but its nearly 10 years old now, and i just cant help but want a RWD V8....

the previous commodores have never really done much for me, but the styling of the VE with the G8 front and little chrome highlights are very similar to the style of my magna, especially after the modifications i've done to it.

It's in my sig. If I could I would keep the GTO until the wheels fell off and I love it but I've never been one to keep a car for very long and this time around I would really like something in red with a manual. The wife and I are going to start trying for kids in about a year so something with 2 more doors would be helpful and a trunk that it 2x's the size of the GTO's. Also I've owned a GTO for 2 years and I know what Holden is capable of producing and from what I've read it sounds like it comes close to the GTO in performance and surpasses the GTO in comfort and convenience. More than likely I will try to sell it instead of trade

Some nice looking cars and some interesting comments, keep them coming. I keep my cars longer than most people. I have been married for 25 years and we are on our 3rd family car in that time. All have been Holden Commodores and all have provided very reliable service as a dd for the mrs...shopping...running around the kids and weekend trips away. My drive cars from work over that time have all been Holdens as well and I have had the same reliable service out of them just like the ones we bought.

2002 Honda S2000. I need more space, practicality, and power. I may get a GTO and wait for the manual or GXP version of the G8.

I'll be getting rid of the GTO. I liked it, but I need 4 doors (2 kids, one 3 and the other 9 months). It isn't all that fun getting in the back to strap in kids. Love the car though. The G8 will be the perfect replacement.

I had a 04 GTO. Never used the back seat once. It took forever to get back there just to clean the windows and stuff. Traded that on a 07 Grand Prix. The Grand Prix will go towards the G8. Loved the GTO. It just needed 4 doors. I just hate the torque steer in my superchared GT GP. I can only imagine how bad it would be with the 5.3 V8 in the GXP. The G8 should be the fix to all of my concerns. G8 has no torque steer and 4 doors. I just hope I can wait ill the manual comes out.

I got rid of my 99 GTP for the torque steer .. got the wife the 03 Explorer Limited .. then inherited the 95 Blazer ... the wheels are worth more LOL Two people don't need 4 cars, so might give the Blazer to the nephew. BTW ... going to keep the wife :)

I used to have a vehicle for everyday of the week. My 1st wife changed that with overspending and then divorcing me. I was down to a beat up POS $75 Toyota. Ouch!

I'll be back up to 5-6 vehicles within 2 years if all goes well. A guy can NEVER have too many vehicles.

This will be my trade. Bought it over 2 years ago with 29k miles its been a great truck. Just hit 86k still a great truck but its getting old..gonna have to start replacing stuff my extended warranty is all done, gas mileage and cost to fill it up is getting old...time to move on. This picture is a couple days after I bought it....pretty much still looks the same except for now with all the sand and salt on our roads its pretty much white now haha...

http://memimage.cardomain.net/member_images/3/web/243000-243999/243763_66_full.jpg

It's been a great car for a younger guy than me. Now it's too noisy, has always been rattly, and things are starting to wear excessively and need replacement. Not to mention it gets pretty lousy fuel mileage. If it was a 5-speed I would likely keep it as a toy, but since it is an automatic, I'll be trading it in as soon as a M6 G8 GT is available for MSRP.

Thank you. I do love the SS, but as far as being practical...it is not anymore. I love the power and the space in it, but I have no need for something this big that gets such terrible gas mileage, especially with as much as I drive.

Plus, I plan on replacing my last Vette very shortly, which will be more fun to have in the garage as a weekend toy than the SS would be.

Don't get me wrong, I love my TBSS, but the initial thrill is gone and I like the looks of the G8 better. Since it is also my wife's DD, I want to get her something that is a little less radical. By radical, I mean loud and annoying when sitting in traffic. I have cam, heads, headers and catless exhaust on the TBSS, so I need to stray back away from that and get a vehicle more civilized. If I could have both, I most certainly would.

I will be disposing of (either trade or outright sell) a '97 Chevy Lumina w/125k miles on it. It has been a good car (wife's old car from college, blue book value = $1250), but it is time to go!! Wanted something fun to drive - G8 will fit the bill. I will not bother posting a pic as I have never had a desire to take one of the car.
