: Remote Start/Instrument Lights
climbin350 01-05-2008, 08:45 PM Hey guys,
trying to convince the wife that this is her next car...so far she is liking the looks but we both have a couple of questions before she's convinced.
will the G8 GT be available with remote start? this would be a definite plus...don't really want to go to the aftermarket on this one.
what color will the instrument panel be. will it be classic Pontiac red? if it is, is there anyway to change it? looking for a nice blue color if it's at all possible.
thanks for the help...
ChipC 01-05-2008, 08:54 PM Remote start is standard according to the Pontiac literature.
Pictures all show Pontiac red for dash lighting. If you look at the GTO forum, you find that a number of people changed their dash lighting color. I am sure that this is doable for the G8, although it may take a ramp up period for product availability (unless this is already be done for the Holden Commodore).

r1owner 01-05-2008, 09:05 PM I think the guage cluster is white backlit, but the rest of the LCD stuff is red.
climbin350 01-05-2008, 10:12 PM wow guys thanks for the fast response. things are looking good with the wife. any idea if it will have driver position memory.
r1owner 01-05-2008, 10:17 PM I've not seen anything indicating it will have driver memory.. so I'm going with a no it will not have it.
ChipC 01-05-2008, 10:35 PM No seat memory/position recall.
Ramsesiii 01-06-2008, 12:03 AM You're gonna have to buy a Mercedes or BMW if you want that stuff ;)
BBBBGXP 01-06-2008, 01:12 AM Dunno about BMW and Mercedes, but my 2004 Bonneville GXP has seat, mirror, radio station, and climate control memory. Would think the G8 GXP would have the same, unless they try to keep the price down.
Mike P 01-06-2008, 01:17 AM I hear that BBBBGXP, our 2007 Trailblazer LT 4.2 liter V6 has memory seats, as did our 06 Envoy XL SLT. I love having that option, I hate trying to get my seat back to exactly where I like it!
I guess my wife won't be driving my G8 GT! :gr_jest:

My wifes Yukon had that crap,(they worked with the key fobs) push the unlock button on the fob and the seat sets itself for the driver. Never worked right after a couple of months. Just more electrial crap that can screw up and then the dealership will never be able to it make right. Don't get me wrong, memory seats are great, when they work. I'm just glad the G8 will get heated seats.
GTPprix 01-06-2008, 09:53 AM The backlighting is White, however I offer the same service for the G8 that I do for the GTO since i've already worked on VE clusters :)

How many of those did it take before you got the hang of the new clusters? ;)
GTPprix 01-06-2008, 05:00 PM Thank God only one, the software is ALOT different though lol

I would say "I know what you mean". But, I don't. :err: At least if I don't like red, I can ask you to change it to blue or white. BTW, are there any "secrets" in the IP (like the shift light on the GTO)?
Cool_Hand_Luke 01-06-2008, 05:18 PM Remote start is a big plus.
Chris (GTPprix) will be able to work his magic so all is well.

Cool Hand Luke: What do you mean by this? I know that the G8 GT comes with remote start up to 150 foot range. But would the outcome be by Chris working his magic? Increased range? Other enhancements?
I'm interested to know more..... Thanks!

If you followed the link in the previous post that should explain alot.
GTPprix has a business where for the GTO crowd he activates the shift light, changes color of the guages, DIC, radio screen and other modifications. I believe he hinted that he will be able to improve/alter the G8 instrument display as well.
Chris if you can, would you provide a pic of what you can do for us?...please.

Agreed…My wife Tahoe seats would change setting cramming her into the steering wheel.
It would move until she touched the seat controls to make it stop.

Same damn thing happened to me one time, luckily I wasn't in the seat. The back tilted all the way forward and then the seat moved all the way foward cramming it under the wheel. I was like "WTF"!

Or pick up a 2001 Bonneville. My Bonnie had a lot of stuff that will be missing from the G8 -- except the $$$ price tag on the G8.

Yeah, I have a 2000 SSEi that has all the goodies...including 90K miles.
I think the only thing I might miss is the HUD. I'll get over it.
