I was just wondering if you guys think we are going to get sucker punched when it's time to get insurance on these cars. I'm hoping it's not too bad. I drive a G6 GTP right now and it's fine. I just hope the rates are decent; they are 4 doors!

If you've got a clean record, I couldn't imagine it being more than 150 a month.

A record with a few tickets? I'm betting around 200 a month or so. OF course, if you go with Geico, Progressive, or any of those other big companies; 400 a month ;)

Gosh, best to call the insurance companies and see if they have the G8 in their system already. The first cars hit the market any day now, so they should.

Age, driving record, etc. all factor in and you will not get a correct answer on the forum.

I have a boyracer Solstice GXP and I only pay $86 per month and that is with added coverage above NC standards.

Some do, some don't. Allstate lists the G8.

Geico does not.

Nationwide does not.

Neither does Progressive.

Metlife does not....

It is reasonable to say that very few actually list the G8 right now. And allstate's ballpark for a clean record is 1140 for the premium coverage for a 26 year old male (myself). That is ballpark, as they say.

I'd have to imagine a few bucks less than the GTO, 4 doors and all.

I would guess it to be pretty similar to a Grand Prix GXP, listed more as a family car then a performance vehicle. Either way, the 4 doors aren't going to hurt anything.

My GTO runs around $40 a month for full coverage so I can't see the G8 being much worse than that for me. I'll check my insurance later today and post back.

Shop around for insurance. I change providers every couple of years. I usually move up in coverage and down in premiums.

Edit: No G8 showing up on the computer yet. A 2007 Grand Prix GXP runs around $31 a month. $100/300 coverage, + uninsured / underinsured.

Allstate for me is $145 per month. (21 year old female)

I just had my husband quote me up on the GT G8 and it was $145 a month with 100/300 coverages and 0 comp, and 500 collission for coverages on all states top top platinum plan. This plan your collision goes down the longer you have no accidents until it is 0. You start out already at $400 for it as soon as you sign up. I drive children around in my car for work so I have to have high coverages if you want closer to state minimums you can get this a lot less. (Mind you he is my all state agent and sells insurence, my V6 mustang was $160 a month so this is less then that) I have a clean driving record though no tickets or accidents, and good credit. So as long as your record is good you should be fine. I also live outside of Philadelphia so my rates go up a little bit because of this.

In the end, though; those online quotes are as worthless as basil rolled up in a joint. Basil won't get you high, and online quotes won't give you an accurate appraisal.

I bet they won't even give a discount for stabillitrak. They still discount like its the 90s and airbags just came out.

Wow 145 seems high to me. I currently pay 250 every 6 months for my 96 Jeep Cherokee.

hahahaha but its just standard nothing special. I would cry if i wrecked it but i doubt i would.

The 145 though is allstates top plan. Mostly because of having other peoples children in my car I have rediculiously high coverages. I also picked the accident forgiveness, and the plan where my collision deductable goes down every few months until it is 0 if I am acident free, and my comp is 0 as well. I could have it cheaper but I wouldn't have the coverage I want.

145 is Allstates pre release BS plan. They just want to be first to get G8 business. If nobody else lists it early, odds are alot of people will think to look at them first.
