menace 02-07-2007, 07:18 AM I've found the following for the VE/G8 V6:
They start from $5,000 AUD
They also have kits listed for the L98 6.0 too.

6spdG8 02-07-2007, 10:19 PM wow, that didn't take long. What an odd looking intake. Looks "Fordish"

+1. It is a little weird looking.
speeddemon 02-08-2007, 10:36 PM still a v6! :wall:

That is for the right hand drive VE. I am sure it would take some modification for it to work on a left hand drive G8.
menace 02-09-2007, 08:58 PM What would need to be changed?
99grandprixGT 02-09-2007, 09:18 PM that does look alittle weird. to much plastic for the intake.
menace 02-10-2007, 12:33 AM It normally looks like this

Michael_S 12-03-2007, 09:25 PM still a v6! :wall:
I wouldn't care if it was a V6, if the kit gave me better-than-V8 power.
But 275 kW converts to about 370 horsepower. Buying the G8 GT gets you about the same amount of power plus a few more standard features, and it's probably cheaper than buying the V6 and the $5000 (Australian dollars) supercharger kit.

I think Edmunds said they figure the base GT will come in at less than $3,000 over the price of the V6. Would be crazy to go forced induction on the V6 over the V8 unless there's a significant difference in insurance premiums.
yevot 01-19-2008, 12:22 PM I can understand a s/c V6 going up against a n/a V8, but not when it costs more, most likely has worse gas economy, and a lot less room to grow (i.e. it already has a s/c but that v8 doesn't). 430hp from a $34k V6 seems pretty good, but not as good as 670hp from a $38k V8 (L98).
Some will go the V6 route so it can be a sleeper and others will go in the V6 direction since insurance will be much cheaper.
Aspect 01-23-2008, 10:45 AM Well, here is my thought. That same 3.6 V6 is being used in other vehicles. So image a Saturn Aura XR with 370 HP. Hrmmmmmmmm.
Maybe the Maggie could be worked to fit on top of the 3.6.

:secret:
Slizzo 06-03-2008, 12:57 PM My Spider Sense tells me that you are working on popping a maggie on the LY7... :wink2:
LSs1Power 12-31-2008, 04:23 AM This is a very good options for cars in the middle east. While the difference between the G8 and GT is only $3000. The price difference between the V6 (Lumina LS) and V8 (Lumina SS) here is more like $17000.
Since im looking for a daily commuter... With the large price difference... its better to go with the LS and SC than the V8.
Rican219 12-31-2008, 07:58 AM Sweet let us know if you get it going
Chief 12-31-2008, 08:43 AM The price difference between a V6 and V8 is more than 3K, my loaded V6 was only 27K. ;)
Also it's more fun to be different. The V6 with a exhaust and tune should be able to pull well over 300 HP. Add a maggie and you could easily pull 400 and still be less than the cost of a V8.
This V6 is already pulling 275 HP in stock form in other GM vechiles. It's just detuned a lot for our cars.
Blown chevy, I'm still waiting. ;) I'll call you next week. want to compare exhaust sounds with you. Got the prototype Magnaflow on now. ;)

I got my G8 GT for 29k and change... out the door. Not sure how you could afford a blower exhaust and tune for 2k... Maybe an exhaust and tune, but not a blower too!
I do agree that a blower on the V6 would be awesome! Different is always fun!
Chief 12-31-2008, 11:02 AM You must of got a hell of a deal then or recently bought it.
The loaded V6 started at 29K for a '08. Reason I didn't get the 08 GT was the only one they had was white and they wouldn't deal on the '09. '09 started at 35K loaded.
incon3037R 12-31-2008, 11:24 AM I got my liquid red GT with red/ black leather interior fully loaded delivered to my front door for $31,000 out the door thats including doc fees, taxes and all the other B.S. with only 1.5 miles on the odometer. I purchased it back in the begining of August.
TrakDay 12-31-2008, 12:02 PM I bought mine basically the first of this month.

While a supercharged V6 is not my cup of tea; believing every V6 sold has only a $3,000.00 price difference from the V8 acording to almighty Edmunds is a bit naive.
DRCUSTOMPARTS 03-13-2009, 09:50 PM You should be able to add a turbo for much less than $5000, and it should get the V6 close to 400hp. By the way, it's $3700 for the supercharger with the US to AU dollar exchange rate.
Derekprz 03-15-2009, 06:41 PM I walked out of the dealer with my G8 V-6 for $22K with only 16 miles on it. I would of never been able to get a V-8 for that low. So spending that kind of money for a supercharger would still be less that buying a GT.

I also got a great deal. while it stickered at 29 and change i got it 20,750 but thats also because of employee pricing and the gt they didnt want to budge at all on the price.

did you have leather/sunroof?
Mine was MSRP 31,9xx with the leather/sunroof/dual climate control options and I paid $29,100 less $2,000 GM card/lease rebate. So my rpice was $27,100. I could of paid $24,100 by taking the $3,000 rebate, but it came out cheaper to take the 1.9 % fiancing for 72 months. I think I got a good deal. Plus I got $3,500 for my 00 GP GT. Other dealers offered me $1,000-$2,000 for my GP.
I know dealers bump your trade to make it look like you get a deal, but I paid almost $1,000 under invoice & I got extra $2,500-$1,500 more for my trade.

Yes, but you're missing out on a limited slip differential.
I am definitely not an experienced driving enthusiast. So I could be totally wrong. But I imagine that for a RWD car to really be fun a limited slip differential is very helpful. That's another added expense.

Or necessary in snow and ice.

It is not that critical... It is a nicety though. I had a mark 8 which is just about 300 HP rwd v8... it performed great with no lsd. It even did two wheel burnouts... a good IRS makes up a decent amount of the difference between an open and lsd.
Still LSD>open
