I just placed an order for a Liquid Red, auto, sunroof GXP.
My cousin works at a GM dealership and put my name in right as they got the line list which is one GXP January/February '09.

I'll admit, I am really new to the Pontiac family. I did have an '86 Trans Am, but that is it. I don't stick to one make and vary every 3 years depending on what is available.

I am coming out of a 3 year lease on a Volvo S60R in April '09. My other choices have been a Mustang GT/CS, 2009 Camaro, 2009 Challenger.
To me, the Mustang is too common. The Challenger is the best looking of all, but I CANNOT stand JEEP/Dodge dealerships in my area. The Camaro will be the talk of the town when it comes out, but it appears it will also be mass-produced.
So for me, the GXP offers some in your face power and bang for the buck, offers four doors(!), and should remain pretty unique (kinda like my S60R). I would rather pass on the WOW another awesome Camaro for WHAT THE HECK is that...GXP factor?????

So, my only question is- What is the Liquid Red like? I would prefer a metal flake color, but have to take what I can get. Does it have much orange peel to it? Does it come off red-orangeish? Is it a 'cheezy' color? lol
Would you say it is on par with the Beutiful bright red's the Corvette comes in year after year?

Thanks a lot guys!

Thanks VisionQuest.
Yes, but I am dying to see it on the car.
My R is sonic blue. It looks entirely different on the car than the swatch in the manual showed. It even looks much different in person than in pics, which is an altogether different situation.

I just wonder how good the G8's red quality is compared to other cars. Sometimes bright red can contain a lot of orange-peel.
I am hoping the GXP has a really deep, rich look to it.

I liked the Sport Red best, but am afraid it may be a bit blasse for a car this 'sporty'. I just hope the Liquid Red has a good quality look to it.

Thanks!

Not sure where you are located, but my dealership has a 2008 in Liquid Red that you could check out. It is in Annapolis, MD.

The Liquid Red color is a brighter, flat red. It may have just a hint of orange, but not such that you would in any way think "orange" upon seeing it. It is not a metallic paint.

No pricing or VIN yet. VIN won't come until the car is actually produced and who knows when the pricing will come out. I remember years ago when I worked at the dealership, cars would come in and not have MSRP stickers in the windows because the pricing was set yet. GM would send them after the fact.

All I have is an email on the specs of the vehicle from the sales manager.
I go in tomorrow monring to test drive a G8 GT, to place a $500 deposit, and to allow them to make phtocopies of my license and insurance card.

He told me the price will not be inflated and should be a bit below sticker.

I just sat in a G8 GT this afternoon. I had to drop off my deposit and figured I had better sit myself in one too while I was there. lol
MAN, what a nice car! You can tell car sales have plummeted. Why else one more people not be driving this car?!! At 6'3" this car really surrounded me nicely. It was not near as tight as my R, yet still very supporting and everything just seemed to be at the right place.
I also love the radio which I originally thought was a GPS system. The salesman said the Blaupunky was over 300 watts. However, I thought the GXP had a mid 200 watt system. This seems odd. The GXP should have the top of every option in the vehicle I would assume.
I also noticed there were no Atari gauges in theis GT. Is that normal? I had the car running. Actually the salesman started it as we walked to it. Love that feature!!!!!

So yeah, I am SOLD. The GXP should look very nice in arrest me, I mean Liquid Red!
