I was wondering what happened to the Pontiac emblem that was on the G8 concept from last year? I thought it was a nice futuristic look ad was wondering if anyone knows if Pontiac will ever use it?

I liked it as well.

would it be hard to make a silverish or clear one? or take the factory one, rip into it and do some tinkering? i like small little differences like that added to a vehicle, cleans it up if you ask me.

Yeah, if it was simple enough I'd do it, but I'd hate to screw it up on a new car. It'd be nice if Pontiac would offer it in the parts catalog.

lol, yea a buddy of mine did it on his cobra with his badges, he colored matched it electric green to give it depth. however, that badge is different than the pontiac badge. i may give it a shot when i get mine.

Perhaps some vendor of the board *cough cough* could look at making or influencing a company to make them.

I may be in the minority here, but I am glad to see that they are using a "regular" Pontiac emblem, rather than the one on the show car. I did notice that the one on the show car harkened back to the Pontiac emblem from the late 50s/early 60s, but only a real Pontiac enthusiast would even know that (and I didn't like those ones either).

It is bad enough that they have killed off all of the classic Pontiac model names and replaced them with alpha-numerics, so they shouldn't kill off the recognized emblem as well.
Although I can't wait to own the car called the "G8," the name will never grow on me. I realize that GM wants to make Pontiac the BMW of North America, but we don't need to use stupid model names like they do too. They tried this failed experiment once before. I bet everyone fondly remembers the T1000, J2000, & 6000 (NOT!). Thank God those names were a passing fad. I hope this phase is too, but I doubt it. What a shame.

I kinda liked it. Change is good somtimes, and it would just look sweet on a black G8. :)

I really liked the concept emblem. Much better looking IMO.

Ditto on the concept being the best Pont emblem. IMO, no emblem should be a certain color (other than metallic, black, silver, white, etc...) In other words....the concept one matches with any body color while the red doesn't.

Ford's Blue emblem looks bad too IMO. Just ruins an otherwise tasteful automobile...:confused:

I agree. The Ford emblem always reminds me of my uncle's Ford tractors. They were great tractors but a car should not be confused with a tractor. But then again most tractors look better then a Ford car . :laugh:

I agree, GM removed the color from the Buick logo. Why not Pontiac?

James, I am pretty sure that there is. In the Edmunds review vid on youtube they have a close up of them emblem and if I seen right, its just like the GTO badge but slightly bigger with chrome edge...I am probably wrong...but maybe.

just got back from the dealer. Looks almost the same but a little bigger and NO border. the back one is huge tho.

Yea Im wondering what the car will look like without badges as well.........

Sorry, I haven't gotten to even drive the car let alone take any pics yet. I'll try and get out in the garage in the next few days to pull them off. I'll be pulling it out tomorrow for the first time since it's going to be nice. It's going to get tinted, then I'll pull the badges and get some pics this weekend! I think next up will be to pull the marker lights - maybe the tails also so they can get smoked/ painted.
