: Dynoed my G8
Comp G 12-07-2008, 02:51 PM Took the car to a dyno day today and got some numbers. I was highest numbers out of the 12 or so cars ranging from Volkswagons, Turboed BMW's, C5 ZO6, and a Mustang until a 2000 Camaro SS running a 100 shot ran. Without N02 he pulled about 20 WHP and WTQ less then me, but with the juice he ended up with 391WHP and 445WTQ [:o].
I pulled a best of 363WHP and 368WTQ. Not bad for about $2100 in a 4 door grocery getter. When I ran it at the track 2 weeks ago I pulled a 12.86 @ 110 so the numbers all add up pretty good for a 4086 (with me in it) race weight.

Heracles 12-07-2008, 03:04 PM 360 rwhp with tune and exhaust mods? Thats awesome
jaxredg8 12-07-2008, 03:07 PM Nice #'s Comp. I basically have the exact mods and my numbers are about the same. Mine is about 358 and 355. But those numbers are from july here in florida. I need to see how much the cooler weather now would help. But again, good numbers. These cars respond SO well.
GeorgeInNePa 12-07-2008, 03:12 PM Nice numbers, inline with other's results.
One of these days I need to get dynoed.
TheTugBoat 12-07-2008, 03:18 PM need to get that 60'er down homeslice...you should be in the 1.8x range trapping 110s
GeorgeInNePa 12-07-2008, 04:19 PM need to get that 60'er down homeslice...you should be in the 1.8x range trapping 110s
The reason he's trapping 110 is because he's spinning so much.
:wink2:
09G8GT09 12-07-2008, 04:43 PM So how much does the engine throw out if it's dynoed at 363rwhp?
GeorgeInNePa 12-07-2008, 05:03 PM The factory rating is 361 at the crank, the averge seems to be 300 at the wheels.
360ish at the wheels should be 420ish at the crank.
Now, do you wonder why a lightly modded G8 is such a beast?
:wink2:
locrzng888 12-07-2008, 05:17 PM His post said he ran 13.86, but, his time slip said 12.86. Thats why he ran 110.
99-LS1-SS 12-07-2008, 05:20 PM So how much does the engine throw out if it's dynoed at 363rwhp?
Assuming a 25% loss, I would say around 450 horsepower at the crank.
racerns 12-07-2008, 06:56 PM Nice numbers, but you need to get them in the SAE correction not STD as you have there. The STD correction usually gives higher numbers than SAE. SAE is the more universial correction factor used. My SAE numbers were 354 rwhp/ 368 rwtq but if you use the STD correction they were 362 rwhp/ 375 rwtq. Some shops use the STD correction factor because of the higher numbers and that makes people happy.
Also 25% loss is kind of high. I would say that 20% is a better number.
b18cls1 12-07-2008, 08:56 PM imho you should just do straight numbers with no correction, there is a diff in what sae standards the dyno manufacture uses, 1 dyno can use sae correction J816 and another can use sae correction J1349 and set the dynos next to eachother and dyno the same car the same day and you will get diff numbers, 25% is way high your in powerglide and 9" territory there, more in the 16% range
2ltrgsr 12-07-2008, 09:10 PM who is that in your avatar:)
Comp G 12-07-2008, 09:23 PM I made a mistake when I typed the13.86 it was a 12.86. When I run I don't really spin much at all, maybe one or two turns leaving the line but she pretty much hooks and grabs. I think that I could possibly leave harder. As far as DT loss it whould be right at 18%. Say stock numbers are 361 * 18% = 64.98. So 361 - 64.98 = 296 and most stock G8 GTs are putting down right at 291-295 so that is pretty close. I was thinking 440 * 18% = 79.2. 440 - 79.2 = 360.8. So pretty close.

jetttstream 12-07-2008, 09:31 PM Wow you guys get to spend so much less money for the power in these cars vs the TBSS.

My bad, I got the info from this site.

25% is the high side for an automatic.
