what all would it take to convert the G8 to look like a VXR8 just on the front end??

I love the front bumper

may be harder than a simple swap. since i have not seen the g8 in person i do not know, however i would assume the g8 bumper is different bc it needs to meet safety standards here in the states. someone else will have better info for ya tho, just didnt wanna leave ya hanging before they spotted it. ;)

front and rear bumpers, hood, taillights + "filler" caps, rear wing, sideskirts.

for the full effect you'd also need the front guards to get the side vents.

reinforcement bars should be fine, as i'm pretty sure the extra supports in the G8 are fitted over the top

headlights will still be the same

Note, the G8 is longer than the VE by a few inches (I think 196 for the G8 vs 194 or 192 for the VE) and even an answer on the exhaust from GM to DevilYellow (admin) said the exhaust is 1" longer on the G8 vs the VE, so the extra length is in the bumpers, probably for the USA standards.

but that doesnt mean the exhaust wouldnt work right??
and still doenst mean bumpers wont work right?

i jsut want the front end.

i jsut want the front end.I understand that you want the front end, my exhaust example was just to indicate that to reach the back of the car it has to be an inch longer, or you could melt some plastic with a VE system.

If they stretched the car, it is most likely in the front and rear bumpers, and besides additional structural support behind the covers, there is the extra length to cover, so even if you do get it on, the sides where it attaches in front of the front wheels, may be a little short and a body shop may have to cut in an extra panel 1-2" more to get it to reach.

Until a side by side comparison, or until the first one is done, it is hard for anyone to know unless they have the engineering drawings, or tried it at the factory, maybe asylum (who works at the factory) can shed some light on any extra bits in the front bumper that is different from the VE to the G8?

You would need the bumper & hood at the least. The G8 hood is different from the Commodore hood due to the "unique" :gr_jest: styling of the G8. You should be able to use the same front fenders & headlights, but you'd need the VXR/HSV fog lights.

so im looking at ordering a new hood...if i cant make the G8 one work...and the front bumper and fog lights....that will prob run like 2K.

i may just wait around for a body kit to come out...or buy the GXP kit

No "if" the G8 hood will work. It won't. The Commodore & HSV cars use a hood that is even across the width. The G8 curves back in order to line up with the 2 grilles in the front fascia.

Hmmm..On second inspection, you might actually be able to use the G8 hood after all.

We will be waiting your trial fitment. :D Did we forget to mention that HSV parts are much more expensive that standard Holden parts? :whine:

i was looking at it and i think the center of the hood that would be the top of the whole two sided grill, will meet the center bar on the top of the GTS clip. It might look a little weird but would fit for the meantime I think. I love that clip too. and I think it matches the rest of the car better than the GTO GTS did.

I think if you give it some time, the aftermarket kits will come out. You're bound to get a vxr8 knock off.

And they should fit quite nicely to the g8. For all we know, the gxp might get the front fascia treatmen anyhow. *crosses fingers*

^ What he said above. I'm sure that aftermarket companies like rksport.com(for example) will come out with a similar kit for the G8. It'll just take a little time for the aftermarket to get the ball rolling since the cars aren't even out on the streets yet. I would wait just to see what they will have to offer.

I'm digging the traditional grill insert and fogs too.

Where would one even be able to order HSV body parts for the VXR8?

Sucks b/c the hood would have to be swapped out also, and I can only imagine what shipping from Aus. would be for a metal hood.

Yeah no kidding. I was just wondering if the VXR8 Fenders would fit on the G8? Being that that G8 is a few inches longer.

Like the fenders on this one. http://www.autospies.com/images/users/Casey54/Carscoop_vxr8.jpg

I believe the fenders are the same length. The extra length comes from the front bumper cover and the underlying bumper supports/structure. The hood is only different because of the grill.

You aren't kidding! My Holden C4's cost $900, shipping was ...$900 too!

I'm told we would just need the hood and bumper but fenders and lights are good.

if i ever buy a VE, i'll swap the front end with one of you guys!

all that will cost is shipping, and the pain of not driving the car while waiting for transport

now i just need a spare $50,000 to buy one! lol

I found this pic the other day:

That bumper definitely has potential. Fits well with the rear spoiler also.

If that's how the G8 GXP ends up looking, I'm gonna have to rethink what I'm willing to spend and how long I'll wait. No hood nostrils. more aggressive bumper. Wing spoiler. :yumyum:

Yeah that front looks very nice. If a company ever comes out with one for the G8 I will have to take that into serious consideration. I would get the wing to go with that front too. I don't mind the hood scoops. It give the G8 that typical Pontiac character which is a good thing of course. ;) But I would definitely take that bumper.
