: G8 Scanned Brochure
bond2 02-03-2008, 11:18 AM I used my crappy old 1995 Umax scanner to do this, but it looks decent. Enjoy...

appletonrc 02-03-2008, 10:07 PM Thanks for scanning that. I've meant to take pictures and stitch them together at work but haven't gotten around to it.

BBBBGXP 02-03-2008, 10:59 PM Every time I see it its better! Thanks for the extra effort!:boink:
bond2 02-03-2008, 11:09 PM I think GM is gonna have a hit on their hands with the G8. For the price, there is no other car on the market that comes even close in style and performance, not to mention cargo and passenger room, at least nothing that I can think of! I can't wait to drive one of these bad boys! Glad you guys are enjoying the brochure.
Cool_Hand_Luke 02-04-2008, 07:18 AM Thanks for the scan. I couldn't bring myself to dig up the old scanner out of the back bedroom.
G8crazy 02-04-2008, 11:53 AM Great Job!! I tried it on my scanner but it didn't turn out near as nice as this!
ToneyTone 02-04-2008, 12:01 PM Hmmm, I noticed the 0-60 times of 5.3 I wonder will the mags beable to replicate those numbers.
CoppeR 02-04-2008, 08:53 PM After reading everything, i noticed the GT does not come w/ a spare tire. Learn something new everyday!
BigElm 02-04-2008, 09:48 PM Nope, just like the CTS. It has a tire sealer/air pump which gets plugged to the lighter. But you can get a spare as an option. For the CTS its a $255 options (18" wheel). If the G8 is in that price range, it'll be better to pick one up at your local junker or tire shop.

Or switch out the OEM tires for some run flats to go with the inflation setup and no worries!
sccaGTO 02-09-2008, 07:28 PM From what I've read on Aussie forums, the Commodore still has the space for a full sized spare. Oz owners get the cheap temporary spare. Since the G8 is built to the same spec, there should be room for a full sized spare as well.

$255 for a new 18" alloy wheel and tyre sounds like a bargain to me.
BigElm 02-09-2008, 11:37 PM I don't think a donut spare is much of a bargain (it's not the full size rim you're probably thinking of).

For a regular sized wheel & tire, great bargain. But, for a temporary wheel & tire, not so much. I would have gotten a full sized spare wheel & tire for my GTO if there was enough space for it.
Cool_Hand_Luke 02-10-2008, 07:17 PM I don't think picking up full size spares will be too hard after the G8s start showing up in salvage yards and guys start selling off their stockers.
sccaGTO 02-10-2008, 07:39 PM People are already planning wheel swaps. If you're gonna get a G8, keep watching for the first owners to start selling. Or, go find an 18" wheel that will fit the GTO. Same basic principle.
My Dealeship recieved the brochures and it is a nice on at that.
I wish the G8 was 3-4 inches smaller length wise it is a huge car almost like a Cadillac Deville.

Dude are you on crack, the G8 is almost a full 11" shorter than the Deville. That isn't same ballpark and it isn't even the same City! It is 5" longer than the BMW 5-series (its target) and 4" shorter than it's competition (Dodge Charger). If you want a BMW 3-series size car, you're looking at the wrong product.
overall length wheel base width weight
Cadillac Deville 207 115.3 74.4 3978
BMW 5 Series 191.1 113.7 72.7 3946
07 Charger SRT8 200.1 120 74.5 4160
G8 GT 196.1 114.8 74.8 3995
G6Owner 03-03-2008, 07:06 AM Thanks for the scan, looks great!!!!
Attorneyguy 03-04-2008, 08:52 AM There is a blurb about the G8 in today's Wall Street Journal (March 4, 2008). The article mentions that the G8 is Pontiac's most important launch since 2004, and yet the article also points out that Pontiac has done very little marketing of the car (implying that most people do not even know it is coming out). The blurb is part of a greater article about how GM comes out with too many cars that are similar and they eat away at their own market share. Saturn, for example, is losing out to Chevy because of very similar products.
Now granted, the G8s aren't at the dealerships yet, but they will be soon. Now is the time to start creating a buzz.
Perhaps we'll see a Pontiac G8 marketing blitz during the NCAA March Madness tournament? It seems that Pontiac likes to market during NCAA events (as we saw during the Bowl games on January 1).

I don't. I need the rear passenger leg room and the huge trunk. It's what won me over from a G35 purchase.
Pushing_Tin 03-04-2008, 12:10 PM Thank you sir
I printed it off for they guys at work to drool over because they didn't understand that an American car for 30k is going to walk all over ther beamers and benzes
:bubbrubb:
You do realize that this car is made in Australia right?
higgledy 03-04-2008, 12:17 PM You do realize that this car is made in Australia right?
...yeah with GM investment and GM parts.
Pushing_Tin 03-04-2008, 01:53 PM ...yeah with GM investment and GM parts.
Does that somehow change the fact that is was MANUFACTURED in Australia?
Look, I like the car but calling it an American car is a bit of a stretch. The Chevy Aveo is made in Korea, is it American too?
tjccpa 03-04-2008, 03:30 PM We all know that BMW, Volkswagon, Toyota, etc all "build" cars in America, whether they are manufactured or assembled here. Does that make them "American" cars? Was Chrysler an "American" car company when they were owned by Daimler Benz? Can Toyota really compete in NASCAR? Did the Mustang with the 351 Windsor have an "American" engine? It seems were are trying to see how many angels can dance on the head of a pin here. Let's not disenfranchise Pontiac. They are an American car company importing a vehicle from a GM owned factory in Austrailia.
Let's us just enjoy these cars, whenever they arrive, from wherever they are going to arrive, and get on with it.

I agree with your sentiment. My original comment was made to point out the irony of calling this an "American" muscle car.

mikemaj82 03-07-2008, 05:15 PM I liked this so much I went on ebay and bought one for around $5 lol
baabootoo 03-09-2008, 12:23 AM It's just like the Boeing/Drummond contract argument! :)
G8 Ray 03-09-2008, 08:46 AM An American Revolution has a different meaning I guess.
Dovetonsils 03-13-2008, 10:03 PM Thanks for the scanned brochures. Could anyone tell me what is displayed on each of the LCD displays? There appears to be one between the gauges in the instrument panel, one above the HVAC in the center, and one above (in?) the radio. As much detail as possible is appreciated, as I am trying to see if the G8 has anything comparable to the SAAB Information Display (SID) that I currently have on our SAAB 9-3. Thank you.
Sluggz 03-14-2008, 12:08 PM The main LCD above the HVAC displays radio, cd and HVAC info The one above that is two gauges displaying volts and oil pressure. The one between the speedo and tach is basically the DIC, which will display whatever you want it to , such as MPH, fuel econ , and current gear in sport and DSC modes.
