I have a local shop that does GM dyno tunes, and have very succesful GTOs and Camaros running around town. I have not had an extensive talk with the Tuner yet, but he says he can show me between 30 to 40 rwhp for $450.00. is this reasonable? I know we have good vendors here on the site, but I like to deal with someone face to face for something like this......

With my Hemi I had to travel 4 hrs for a good tune, but I had that 4x4 quad cab turning 8.7 1/8 miles...6500lb brick. Of course I had a bunch of money tied up in it not just a tune.

That's pretty spot on for a tune. My local guy here does $500 with hptuners, and another dude charges $400. Find out if it includes dyno time cause that would be extra.

I think that was with dyno time

The main question is; how well does he know the 6L80E transmissions?

A lot of guys don't have any experience with them which led me to Vector. I know I am probably leaving a little on the table with Vector but it gives me a good reason to visit Michigan this summer right? :)

Realistically gains are only about half of what he told you. Typically 20-25 rwhp is what you will pick up on a stock G8 GT. Our INTENSE G8 ECM tunes (http://intense-racing.com/Merchant2/merchant.mvc?Screen=PROD&Store_Code=IR&Product_Code=G8-ECM-2008&Category_Code=G8_Electronics) are within 1% of what we advertise and are independently verified.

I saw 17whp and 12tq with my tune. I had the Roto-Fab on for the baseline of 309whp 329tq. My final was 326whp and 341tq. This was on a Mustang Dyno. Trans is also a very important issue with tuning. Just tuning the trans is worth the money alone if done properly. I left 50% torque management on.

I put down almost identical numbers with a NE CAI and Local EFI Live tune on a Dynojet Dyno SAE corrected.
