With battery power to adjust the seat, etc.
Thanks,

I'll be at the Chicago Auto Show on Monday, so I sure hope the one there isn't on a turntable or behind ropes. I want to get up close and personal with it, to see how it feels.

A friend of mine was at the "sneak peek" yesterday in Chicago. He was able to walk right up and hop in. I'm going next week and can't wait !

I have had the Dallas auto show in my Moto Q for a few weeks now.

Cant wait to get to check it out. I just dont know what other cars i might want to look at I am so focused on this car that maybe i should consider something else.

We have developed a 12-step program

Place the following vehicles in a dark room: with badges removed

Accord
TL (Acura)
Camry
Avalon
Altima
Maxima
G35 (Infinity)
M45 "
GS/IS 350 (Lexus)
S60 (Volvo)
S80 "
Genesis (Hyundai, yes 'caues it costs more than any equivalent g8)

Viewing only from side profile, slowly bring up the lights - until you can correctly identify each and every one of the 12. When you can accomplish this task you can call yourself cured. Otherwise your choices become:
Fusion/Milan
MKZ
Charger/300
550i
C class/E class
CTS
XK-F
Quattroporte
9-3/9-5
A4/A6/A8
Malibu/Aura/G6
LaCrosse Super/ GP GXP

Hmmm. Nashville doesn't seem to be listed. Not that I'm surprised. Hopefully the local Nashville dealer participating will have one to fondle...I mean examine.

The G8 is not listed on Cleveland's site, but is supposed to be there -we'll find out this weekend. Two world debuts did take place at the I/X Center, teh 427 Limited Edition ZO6 Corvette wit h505 hp, and the newest Cobalt SS, which sports the 260hp turbocharged Ecotec from the Solstice GXP. Production is already underway in Lordstown, OH. 0-60 in 5.7, 30 mpg.

The G8 is at the Cleveland auto show. They have a blue G8 GT on display, and a metallic gray G8 that you can sit in (no red leather in either). The Pontiac specialists on hand could not tell me when the G8 would hit dealerships because they did not know.

I find this very sad – and absolutely unacceptable.
If someone takes the time & spends the money to attend an auto show,
and Pontiac has a ( rather exciting ) new product, with recently
released road tests that compare it very favorably with the competition. . .

Is it really too much to expect that the person ought to be able to find out
about such critical issues as product availability?

Etc?

Clearly, someone knows.

Why would Pontiac not have people at these shows that know?

[ Not the “spokes-models” ]

I just do not understand . . .

Again very thankful that this site exists –
and that there are people who contribute actual information they gather . . .

To make sure, I asked the "Pontiac Specialist" twice whether he knew when the G8s would be hitting dealerships. He said he did not know.

So I asked him a third time, "Is this info that Pontiac is trying to keep under wraps for some reason? Can you at least give me a hint because I'm sure you have SOME info." At that point, he did say that some dealers in California have G8s, but again he did not know when they would be arriving at dealerships across the U.S.

Then he tried to change the subject. He said he could tell me all about the G8, including specs, etc. I replied, "No thanks. I already know everything I need to know about the G8 because I visit G8 Board every day. What I really need to know is when the dang thing hits the dealerships."

Finally, I told him that the rumor on the Internet boards is that the official release is March 1. Once again the "Pontiac speciailist" could neither confirm nor deny this information as he did NOT KNOW. All he could tell me was first quarter 2008 (which, in all fairness, is SOME info).

So then I decided to check out the G8 on display. I was sitting in the passenger seat and some fat guy sitting in the drivers seat started complaining to me about how tiny and compact the G8 is. I told him I thought it was amazingly roomy. He said, "You're kidding? This car is cramped. It's a toy."

Then another guy in the crowd was complaining about how the G8 is from Australia and that it's gonna fail just like the GTO. However, he could not follow up that statement with any additional reasons other than his sheer speculation (and uninformed opinion).

Just like Mercedes and BMW fail because they are not built (for the most part) here. Or Volvo, Saab, Audi, Hyundai, ....

The GTO's "failure" to live up to sales forecasts has little to do with where it was built, mostly where it was priced - and te hfact it was based on a vehicle scheduled to go out of production. There must be a ton of factory money incentive to move the few remaining new 2006 GTOs.

I will say that in 2004, I was ready to replace my 1998 Grand Prix. But the pricing and styling of the GTO turned me off. I thought it was too much for a Pontiac (no offense to GTO owners out there). I ended up going with another Grand Prix.
The G8, by contrast, has exceeded my expectations in every way, from styling to pricing (I was very surprised to find that G8 came in under 30K).
I think that for the price, there is no better car on the market than the G8.

(I know, I know...I say "on the market" as if it's already out! haha)

Did you remember to tell him that cars are made for humans, not whales? Considering the average person's size, the car is rather large.

Actually, I will say that he looked quite cramped in the front seat. He was a big fella. He was actually trying to steer me AWAY from the G8. Little did he know that I already put my order in on a G8 and am eagerly awaiting delivery (which apparently is another few weeks????)!

He must have been the kind of guy that needed a Ram Mega Cab. Not because he needed to carry his friends & family, but to carry his, um, butt.

I was in traffic last week behind a jacked up F250 with those nuts on the hitch. The novelty wears off when they started to be sold in colors. Those were funny....10 years ago when they first came out. Now, they're stupid. Especially in chrome. I wanted to get out at the stop light, walk up behind the truck & kick those nuts.
