: Insurance Quote
SRG963 02-06-2008, 09:36 AM Well folks, I called my insurance company to get some quotes.
The following was based on 500/500 with gap insurance for a 6 month term:
2008 Chevy 1/2 ton Truck - 732.50
2008 Pontiac G8GT - 812.80
2008 Chevy Corvette - 861.40
My 2004 Cadillac DTS (which new = $57,000 ) is only 697.40.
How can a Corvette's insurance only be $8.34 a month more than the G8GT?
What to do, what to do....
izayn 02-06-2008, 09:57 AM What insurance do you have if you don't mind me asking, When I just did a progressive quote it said it was about 212 a month

Insurance is a weird business. My premium for my G8GT with the same coverage as my current 1999 Chevy Prizm is going to be $2 less every 6 months - basically just the offset of newer, more expensive, faster car with other safety features. But I'm not sure how all of the other "magic" that factors into one person's quote vs. another fits in there.

I am with Safeco Insurance now, used to be w/Progressive.
The quote I got was for the Grand Prix GXP since the G8 isn't in the system, and the ratings won't be out till the end of this year. Also, I told them that it's not a daily driver, so that makes the price a little less.
Seems a bit too expensive, but everything does these days.
The Vette is up to $400 more a month on payments, unless GM is running a lease promotion. I saw a promotion last year on a vette lease, $500 a month!!! Now the Vettes payments are about doubled, around $1000.

Let me see if I'm understanding this correctly, you got a quote on a brand new car VS the 1999, and your insurance is going to be $2 less per 6 months?
I've been told that everytime you get a new car, the insurance goes up. At least that's how it's been with my vehicles. I've gotten a speeding ticket and 1 accident on my record which raised it a bit, but I can't see how a $32k car can be more than a $57k car, both have 4 doors, both have V8 and the same safty features.
I hate auto insurance companies. They charge us out the butt and we never get anything in return except higher rates.
Several factors plays into the cost of insurance. Like age, gender, # of tickets, # accidents, region you live in and the amount of safety features the vehicle has. I know insurance is a racket and every car I have bought, it always goes up and my record is clean.
BBBBGXP 02-06-2008, 02:06 PM Are you married or single, also a factor. If your wife has a good record, that helps! If you are single and under 25, that hurts! If you have multiple cars under the same policy, that helps. If you spend more time with the local cop than your significant other, that hurts! And the latest twist, with some companies, if your credit score sucks, so will your insurance rates! Isn't it fun?!?!
Ramsesiii 02-06-2008, 04:11 PM Is that a quote from an agent? Or an online quote. If its an online quote, I don't buy the figures. They're never right.

Unless the cop is a hot chick.:turbonaughtdy_1:
