The mags say the GXP has a more throaty exhaust than the GT.
Anybody know what the differences are???

well, the LS3 in and of itself produces a meaner sound probably....

I'm not sure of the difference but I think the mufflers are slightly higher flowing.

I thought that they were using Holden mufflers, for a little more flow and sound?

ls3 shouldn't sound much different. The cam selection is a bit more aggressive but as for overal tone the muflers have to be different.

My LS2 GTO sounds much different from a stock G8, it was hard to tell if the G8 was even running...

I can hardly tell my LS3 is running with the NPP flaps closed.

what are NPP flaps?

It has a exhaust cut out from the factory. When the engine reaches a certain rpm the muflers are bypassed. The exhaust is then routed through a straight pipe in the mufler. I have 4 pipes out the back. 2 go through the muffler and 2 are the bypass. It is fairly loud when it is in by pass mode. They sell a litte remote for the bypass so you can open it anytime instead of waiting for the high rpm.

I recall reading that the GXP had a lower restriction exhaust system +1/2" diameter vs G8GT.

If that is the case I will be searching for a GXP catback for my G8 ;)

I know the tips are larger but I haven't been able to find literature stating what was different in the two exhausts.

If one shows up here like it should soon, I will try to get a short vid of the exhaust sound.

The GXP is relatively quiet at idle. It has a slightly lower rumble than the GT, but just slightly at best. The audible difference between the GXP vs GT is noticed at about 3000+ RPM's. The LS3 wakes up at this range, but is still relatively docile. I'll try to put up a video this weekend

Don't forget the GXP does not have AFM/DoD, which in the GT requires them to add more sound deadening material, where the GXP does not need such large mufflers.

I didn't drove g8 (or Lumina SS in our region) but my car (HSV LS2) has really nice sound between 2-3 rpm and with the manual gear box I really enjoy it

Yes, exactly right. Whatever is being used on the GXP would probably drone on the GT because of the DOD.
