Understand the safety and performance values associated with Brembos, just wondering if anyone is familiar with the cost for a complete brake job on these vs conventional brakes?

Hi, by 'brake job' you mean the routine replacement of pads and turning or replacing rotors? The Brembos are just marginally more expensive to service due to larger rotors and pads (very little difference in price vs. conventional). I love the way they look and stop the car, but don't try to add them aftermarket unless you have a few $grand$ socked away.

Brembo's are not too hard to maintain. If you are doing hard braking in road course racing and such you may heat the calipers to a point where the color will turn dark, but it will not affect performance. The most common problem most people get when changing pads is the bolts are seized and they will snap very easily, this requires you to drill out the threads and install a helicoil. This is why the labor to change the pads is expensive though pads are relatively inexpensive. Also you want to be really careful not to scratch the paint on the calipers when working on them.

i done a few tl brakes and other cars with brembos its pretty easy to service. easier then conventional brakes imo.
but if you were to replace rotors and pads they will cost more then regular brakes. you cant exactly go to autozone and order rotors in most cases. i dont like to cut rotors your taking material of the rotor is a giant heat sink. plus last thing i need is a rotor cracking on me when im braking hard at 120mph down the straight.

From my experience, while unrelated, brembos produce a lot of brake dust, similar to European cars. I remember a lot of the Acura TL folks complaining about this.

very true, depending on pad compound the Brembos will give a ton of brake dust... at least they did on my Evo...

No difference. Pads and turning rotors. Brembo's are not anything different than any other brakes. GTO's and corvette's came with PBR's. You can still buy the pads anywhere. Most of GM's parts are made buy a supplier with a different name. It just happens in this case it's one with a name thats in the performance market.

Brembo is the #1 OE supplier of performance brake upgrades. These are very good but not the same as a true race caliper. They are less expensive for the OEMs than some others. Pads are available from OE suppliers and aftermarket including Napa,Kragen, etc. These pads are not however as good as the original Brembo/OE Pads(which are not made by Brembo either) and will be more dusty that OE pads. Brake jobs will be more expensive than others but shouldn't be outrageous. OE rotors won't be a ton more either unless you go to drilled or? Aftermarket replacement rotors will be less than OE and You can look that up in one of the other threads.

The Pads Are The Same As The 05-09 Cadillac STS

a pad generating dust has more to do with the pad itself, ad less to do with the calipers.
Stock pads on any car, Brembos or not, are typically basic street pads that generate alot of dust.
Also, if rotors are drilled or slotted, you can generate more brake dust as well.

the brembo pads are known for creating major dust. when you have to replace them look up zeckhausen they have replacement pads that have less dust and better wear and tear, i used them on my srt8.
