: G8 Debut - G8Board.com
DevilYellow 02-07-2007, 06:04 PM I really didnt focus too much on the car because of the frenzy of media around it. I did touch it :p .... but seriously, it looks better in person than it does in the media images. Especially when being lower than it - it has a very muscular stance.
Here are a few good shots of Bob introducing it.
The only new thing I learned .... G8's to be in dealers Q1 2008 - not Q4 2007.

AlphaEden 02-07-2007, 06:07 PM Blah those wheels are so damn nice...
Did you get any up close pictures?
DevilYellow 02-07-2007, 06:22 PM There was nothing that I could think about.... between all the media photos from Pontiac and Holden I really have every shot there is.
I have been thinking of going down to Australia to check out the entire range and hang out at HSV.
Also note: the show car has a handful of HSV goodies.
AlphaEden 02-07-2007, 06:25 PM Did they at least start up the car and let you hear the exhaust?

BowdawG 02-07-2007, 07:05 PM Just downloaded the 3Mb pic of the interior (http://gm.wieck.com/forms/gm/previewpage?035705) and found some cool things.... Hey, I've never looked at VE dash pics closely before!
There's definitely a NAV button on the radio
Power/volume is still on 'passenger' side of radio
I like the different (read: not every car in NA) steering wheel
Bluetooth/mute button on steering wheel with thumb 'roller' button for volume of radio next to it.
Audio/Trip button on left side with roller button for menus?
Oil pressure (in bar) and Volts are the red display above the vents in the center of the dash
Lock/Unlock and mirror controls on console by window controls.
LOL oh yeah and the 6spd shifter knob is a carryover

That's something I've gotten used to with the GTO and now I couldn't have it any other way.
Recluse 02-08-2007, 09:48 AM It's minor, and someone may have said this already elsewhere, but the Pontiac badge in silver is a real step up, IMHO.

Awww crap that's a major bummer, looks like they changed that out recently and means they wont be offering NAV in the 08 model year. Well even better reason to wait til 2009-10 then.
And DY so are they delaying til 08 and then putting the Auto and Manual Transmission cars out at the same time? Earlier reports said 08 Auto this August and then 08 Manual "later" or is the time frame entirely pushed back from previous reports?

We dont know that for certain- from discussions elsewhere it seems as though there are three different center stacks.
1. Single zone climate control with no screen (probably only available on V6 model)
2. Dual zone climate control with screen and no nav (for climate control and media)
3. Dual zone climate control with screen and nav- adds a nav function to #2

IMO, they HAVE to do the manual. However a few marketing people were 'iffy' about the manual at the show. Saying they are still working on it. I selectively ignored that because I don't see that as an option. They need the manual for the car to work.

Agreed, the only thing making me uneasy is the pricing for the GT model.

+1 new desktop :D

Huh? Hasn't GM/Holden already stated a manual will be offered for the GT? To go back on that would be kind of crappy. That is one of the major features that sets this car apart from the Charger. The GTO didn't have a problem selling manuals. Many people, I assume, who pony up for the high performance model are going to want a manual just for the fun factor and automatic or Michael Schumacher wannabe tap-shift isn't going to cut it for them. Hopefully those marketing types you were talking to are just junior G-men and don't have any clout to influence product decisions.
