Hey guys,

My names Rob and I live in GA, was looking to buy a G8 in the next few months..... so wanted any tips on "anything" to look for. I don't know much about the cars except what I've read online, so wanted to get some input from ya'll. I use to have a 05' Yellow GTO, so just looking to get something semi fast... but with more room this time hehe.

Gonna be looking for a dark red or pacific gray GT probably, but might wait till the GXP's come out.

So some general questions:
Anything to look for on these cars (any factory defects or major problems with the cars)? Just wondering since when I was looking for GTO's there was a aussie batch with crappy paint and a couple other small issues.

What are the general break in procedures and what type of warrantys come on the G8's?

When will the GXP's come out?

Do ya'll (GA) have any club meets, autox, do mountain runs or any of that stuff? Kinda had a hard time finding GTO guys that did any of that and was wondering how the community over here was.

Thanks!

any differences between the 08's and 09's... color choice and anything else spec wise?

It's a 4 door GTO with more options like rear seat pass-thru, a sunroof and heated seats. The 6-speed auto/manual trans makes the car so much quicker than the GTO, and the rear end is beefier and doesn't suffer from the dreaded GTO rear wheel hop. If you liked your GTO you'll love the G8.

The paint on mine looks great, and everything works as it should. There is a problem with the auto trans shifting, but there's a free update that takes care of it. It comes with a 3yr/36K bumper to bumper and 5yr/100K powertrain warranty, so you'll be covered for many years ahead.

I don't think it's worth another $10K for the GXP, a tune/CAI will get you just shy of 400hp. The HD rear swaybar, brakes and struts/springs from the GXP will bolt right on the GT, and they should be available soon.

Thanks for the input! Yeah I need to go drive one, but the GT looks to be a median between the LS1 and LS2 GTO speed wise... and with the cai/exhaust/tune that would make it closer to a 13sec car like my 05' GTO was most likely. What type of tranny is in the car now? If it's better then the autos in the GTO that is great... I remember the wheel hop.

I'll probably try to drive a GXP when a dealer near me has one... I know it's like 10k more... but looks to have a better suspension, brakes, and the bigger engine.. so going to see if its worth it. I'm sure the GT is very nice though!

Any color differences/options between 08' and 09' for the G8's... and what colors were the colored seats available in?? I like those!

They added Stryker Blue, Maverick Silver, Sport Red and Slate Blue in 2009. They dropped Ignition Orange, Magnetic Gray and Stealth Blue from 2008. They also dropped the wierd looking oil pressure/voltage gauges that were above the radio on the 2008's.

The trans is the 6L80 automatic and it's very strong, but it does need a free update on the 2008's to make it shift better. I'm not sure which colors have the red/black seats, but they are heated unlike the GTO's seats.
