Sill plates are usually shiny things that are at the bottom of the door opening to dress up the area...

I've seen some info on the advanced two way start. It does some basic 2 way communication with the car... the FOB has a little LCD display that will give you some information. Go here for more info... http://fyi.gmblogs.com/2006/11/

That would be awesome if these options were available on the G8GT. Looks like Ram Air to me. I'd like the performance exhaust too! Just in case I can not afford the GXP, it's nice to think that there are some goodies in store for the GT version too.

CAI, not RamAir, IMHO. I expect the scoops to remain factory non-functional. Sil plates are usually brushed aluminum wit hspecial wording. Couple of pics of trim kits as currently listed. Probably fake c-f look. Maybe later they'll offer different color apliques to match exterior colors, similar to what is available on a G6.

Cold air and performance exhaust are horsepower adders. These pictures make it look like there will be higher horse power available for the G8 GT right?

In case some of you do not know what personal audio link is (I didn't):
General Motors today announced its all-new “Personal Audio Link” iPodŽ adapter for Chevrolet HHR, Chevrolet Cobalt, Pontiac G5, Pontiac Solstice and Saturn Sky is now available from all Chevrolet, Pontiac and Saturn dealerships.

Because great cars and great tunes should travel together, the Personal Audio Link accessory was developed exclusively for iPod and specifically for use with the factory-installed audio system in GM vehicles. Affordably priced at only $159 MSRP, plus dealer installation, the system has undergone extensive validation testing to assure that it delivers the seamless performance iPod users expect from their devices.

The Personal Audio Link iPod adapter, not visible to the customer once installed, uses software, and is integrated through the radio’s digital XM Satellite Radio band. This provides improved sound over FM modulated systems, and better control and display over FM modulated and CD changer interface units.

The system displays song title, artist, time and track position on the radio display, and allows song selection by genre, play list, artist and album. A unique feature of the system also allows users to easily search alphabetically through artist, album, genre, play list, podcast or audio book. And, shuffling music is a snap with Personal Audio Link.

Podcasts and audio books are no problem. Personal Audio Link enables the user to store, sort and select their favorite Podcast or audio book by title. In vehicles equipped with steering wheel audio controls, those controls will also control volume.

Once the device is installed, the customer plugs the iPod into an interface cable in the glove box, where the player can be safely secured and stowed. The device also charges the iPod while the vehicle is operating.

GM expects to make the device available on many of its models by the end of 2007 – meaning GM will offer one of the widest ranges of vehicle applications for iPod integration in the industry.

Because the accessory was developed and validated by GM engineers, owners of these cars can be assured that the Personal Audio Link iPodŽ adapter from GM won’t compromise their GM vehicle’s performance. The Personal Audio Link is also fully backed by GM’s New-Vehicle Limited Warranty, when installed by a GM dealership at the time of new vehicle delivery. If installed after delivery, coverage is for the balance of the New-Vehicle Limited Warranty, or a minimum of 12 months/12,000 miles, whichever comes first.

Do you have anything like this that shows the high wing spoiler option. Just curious if it is the same as the SS.

The headrest DVD is available on a lot of GM vehicles. I see them mostly on Silverado's, Tahoe's, and Suburban's. Available accessory for all those.

Where would it sit? I havent seen the engine upclose but i thought the intake was in the middle.

I hope I didn't miss this higher up, but these are "accessories"; meaning from the dealer right? Instead of a Magnaflow loud mouth, we can get a Poncho one from GM. Same for the CAI I'd guess. They rightly figure why let the aftermarket get the money, instead of GM.

Are these accessories worth it? How much are they?

chiefpontiac
02-18-2008, 01:40 PM
The "performance" accessories will work the same as aftermarket ones, migt be alittle higher priced but you have the comfort of knowing teh service department won't complain about someone else's work under the hhood when you go in for regularly scheduled.

Other accessories, like dvd players and other such things may not ne teh best on teh market but will install seamlessly and look "factory"

I ordered my G8 with the red/onyx interior, and I noticed in the G8 brochure that one of the accessories they are offering is a red cover for the shift. Does anyone know how much it costs and is it worth it?

They show wheels on that accessories picture at the top of the page... What wheels are they? They don't look like the 19" wheels that I have come to recognize for the G8 GT...

Any new word on the accessories for the MY09 models? I'd like to know more about the Exterior Functional Air Box
and
Performance Catback Exhaust
Both of these are something I'd definitely add to my GT if available when I purchase. -As long as they result in louder and faster... ;-)

chiefpontiac
03-06-2008, 01:54 PM
They will result in louder, no guarantee of faster. But if it sounds faster...

BTW, no new info online, not even a list of accessories for '09 as there is for '08.

I just know that more than one person has said the L76 has some easily-tapped into performance potential and that by simply upgrading air intake, exhaust, and tuning, some very nice HP increase can be had. I'd be happy to pay GM for the first two and I'll take care of the 3rd. Of course one could argue that GM's performance accessories would not measure up to the aftermarket alternative, but they would have to be better than stock right?

In terms of the functual airbox, it will probably be really a cold air setup. What will happen is air will enter both of the hoodscoops then it curve over to the driver side of the hood where it will enter the stock airbox that has a entryway between it and the hood.

Hopefully GM won't drop the ball in bringing these accesories to the market. They screw up real bad with the 427 badges for the Z06 I had. It took them like almost 2 years to get them out

chiefpontiac

Dyno testing before and after are the only way to be sure that any upgrade really is an upgrade. From what the early tests have said regarding teh absence of noise level with the G8 then these items certainly will make it sound faster.

As long as I can convince myself it's faster that's really all that matters right? I have yet to hear the engine/exhaust, but I'm pretty sure I'd like to hear both a little louder than GM sells it to me. I'm the kind of guy who would turn the air cleaner lid upside down so I could hear the engine bellow through that 4 barrel carb! Yeah! Oh, did that just date me?

I have to admit, it sounded pretty sedate.

Just got back from a little test drive....will post up a review later.

Keeping my fingers crossed for the PAL(Personal Audio Link)

That would be a great option I think. It's cool to see all the artist/track information on the LCD and also be able to control the Ipod by using the steering wheel controls. Come on GM, make these available by the time I buy!

agreed 2 tone would be great. Just like the concept. Search and you will see. That interior will impress friends and family getting into my new sedan.

I mean the Malibu interior is so much sexier IMO.

If the tall spoiler is like the ones on the Lumina SS's here in Saudi you won't want one. They are nasty looking in my opinion. Much more angular and awkward looking than the stock ones on the 04-06 GTO's. The car itself looks pretty nice, even without the hood scoops that the G8 has. I sat in a new SS w/sunroof, DVD, solid black interior, and it was pretty nice. Asking price was $37k.

Correct, that is the "muffler" or baffle box for the intake. I see easy potential for a ram-air style intake on this car. A few of my Goat crew and I were taking a close look today at the ride & drive.
