Denver SRT wants to meet up with a G8!!!

2008 Jeep SRT8 guy here in Denver who wants to meet up with some Denver G8's...GT and GXP's!! My grandpa always drove a Pontiac and these cars are fast and rare, SO I wanna check one out! Will have a meet n greet, and I'll invite some other Jeep guy's!

I am only asking because I'm curious as to what was in the G8. It might have been a V6 with LSx badging and staggered wheels the way that the GTO owner says he killed them.

FINALLLLLLY!

A buddy/co-worker picked up a lightly modded Evo VIII MR (Exhaust, Intake, Boost Controller...etc) earlier this week and has been joking with me about running the G8. We were out for lunch today with a couple other coworkers and got lined up rolling at about 35mph. I dropped it into M2, he and I both gave it a couple revs, and we were off! I nailed it a bit before him and therefor jumped about half a car on him.....slapped it back into auto and kept it smashed to the floor. As he got into the boost he started to pull ever so slightly, and then he shifted and dropped a couple feet back, same thing through 3rd and 4th. We ended up backing off it because we were catching up to traffic at a little over 105. I was pretty impressed with both cars! His little 4-banger was stout, and the G8 held her own nicely. I would say it was dead even if we had launched at the exact same time.

Next time I might have to run him from a dig, so the outcome might not be so good for me! We had a blast, and he was pretty impressed with the big old G8 keeping up with his Evo. Now the war is on for the king of the office! Looks like I am going to need a tune STAT! :driving:

Next time I will remember to get my passenger to get some video footage.

Finally killed an a SRT-8 Jeep

Coming home from a car show. There was a mustang in front of me

The jeep passed me and started messing with the stang. Stang didn't bite so I moved up next to the jeep. Dropped it into third and gave it a little punch.

He bit and it was on! Really wasn't a contest. Pulled 3 cars on him in a pretty short time.

He shut it down after he realized it was futile to continue.

So I shut it down, then I didn't realize my dad was coming up in his Z06. He blew by me like I was parked. Double kill for the family! :)

Lexus ISF

It's bowling season already :|

So, I pull into the lot and see a sweet looking blue car. Turns out to be the Lexus ISF. I didn't expect to see a 60K car at the bowling alley!

Anyway, I park next to it. After league is done, I walk out and the guy is talking about the car with another guy from bowling. I let him know that the car is freaking nice and blah blah blah.

He asks me if I wanna race. I asked him what he's putting down. He said he was over 600hp, with twin turbos. I said, lol, no thanks. You'd walk me. Then he tells me that he just had the engine built to a lower compression and is only running 3.5-6psi because he doesn't have a tune yet. So he thinks hes around 400-450 or so.

I still say, I better not. It's 10:30pm and cops are all over this area.

Well....him and the other guy follow me and after a few blocks I say, what the heck. Gotta get my first loss sometime.

We ended up doing 2 runs from a dead stop at stop lights. 0-95. I didn't wanna go over 100 ;). First time I had him by about 2 car lengths at 95. I was suprised. I was expecting to see tail lights. Second time, I had him by about 3 car lenghts. Again, was very suprised.

We also did 2 roll races, from about 20mph. First one, again I pulled about 1-2 lenths on him, I started in manual mode. Second roll, I forgot to put it in manual mode, so I was probably in 3rd and the car took a while to down shift, so I lost by about half a length up to about 80ish.

Overall though, this made me all nice and warm inside. The G8 took out a built twin turbo'd (non tuned) ISF ;).

The ISF sounded good too, you could hear the spooling as we played around a little between races.

I was coming from a test drive w/ a friend from work the other day, and as I turn onto the road after my good bye's I see a Cherokee SRT-8 in burg. w/ really fat tail pipes. I look as I pass, and notice him looking also. He then pulls up behind me as I approach the light. The light was about to change, and I could have made it but I hold back to stop at the red. When the light turns, I make a rt. onto a three lane roadway and he pulls next to me. His windows are as dark as mine so I can't see much at my side as we approach a red light. This light is the last light before a three lane parkway w/ no more lights and no shoulder for 1.5 miles. I leave the car in drive and remove the traction ctrl. light turns and I pull out at 75% and he hangs back at first then pulls up hard. Okay its on... I let off gas for a second or so and slapped it to sport, the car dropped down about the same time we were side by side. I mash down and off we go. We were side by side for maybe two seconds then I start pulling and pulling up to about 138 mph before we start to catch the traffic from the previous light at which time I had him by 5 or 6 cars before I let up as did he. Later 4to 5 miles down the highway he pulled next to me and rolled his window down with a big smile on his face and said "you got me man you got me I heard these cars were fast" I smiled and said so is yours I was nervous about you from a dig but you didn't go. He nodded his head, then I said that would have been your only chance. Hard to talk going +50 mph with other cars in tow. Nice Guy but I had no time to stop and talk. Race may have been different if from a dig, but it was hot and traction was little issue and that portion of road- way that we started on goes up hill for a good portion. Those local to NYC may be able to figure out the location of this imaginary race.:driving:

Well finnally after almost a year and a half I got my first test. But first lets go over the mods Vararam OTR, SLP underdrive and Dyno tune(417rwhp & 418rwtq). So I left early for work on Friday night planning to stop by a friends house to hang out, the back up plan was to go hunting. Well wouldnt you know it, he didnt answer, leaving me and the GXP with nothing but plan B. Now with plan B becoming plan A I decide to waste some dead dinosaurs and moonshine( gasoline w/ up to 10% ethanol). After nearly giving up and 2 hours I catch a small grey coupe on an overpass to my left, i hit the service road onto bypass that he is on. Thanks to lights I manage to get behind him and by leaving it in 2nd then giving enough gas to raise my head lights noticiably. He got the picture and returned the wink wink the same way. I fell confident this is going to happen as he turns into a Wendys. We talk out the details, 3rd honk while rolling 1st gear. Not realizing he has a buddy right off the RX7 sent him to scout the local and off we went. On the way I thought about the Mazda being much lighter turbo and or modfied, this might not be a good idea for the first test, oh well. A few minutes later its on like Calgon. I did the count and none of that bs honk.....honk..honk i wanted no excuses. It was fair and fast but he never had me. I know Ill hear **** about it but I kept pulling harder and harder the faster we went all the way up to 145. Later we pulled in to a parking lot to talk told him what i had and he told me mostly stock just intake tuner and exhaust. He was guessing around 325 crank. He said it was also his first death, score one for the import, I mean American, I mean Aussie.

LY7 vs Hemi ram 1500

This guy blows by me and everyone else in his path like he's top dog because he's got the Hemi.He hits the red light ahead with me creeping up in the lane beside him.Usually i turn off at this light to go to work but this time i decided to turn off at the next light,wanted to see what these big hemi trucks could do.I let him take off first giving him a good length on me and i nail it hard almost to the floor catching him pretty quick.

We are now side by side all the way thru 1st and 2nd gears.I shift into 3rd and pull on him and continue to pull on him quite a bit.Knowing this kill was over i hit my brake to slow down since i was in the city and turn off at the next light.I should of rolled down my window and asked him how it felt to get your ass handed to ya by a V6.

I know it's just a Big heavy truck but any V8 kill to me is good kill.I continued to drive to work with a big smile on my face:)

Did some high-speed runs coming up out of Mexico. It was sort of obvious he wasn't modded. We started off at around 55 and I just walked him every time. We ran together for about 25 miles, and at one point I let him pass me and get a 1/4 mile lead at full throttle. It took me about 2/3 mile to catch him and blow by...lol. He was giving me the thumbs up, and I could see him mouth 'that thing is FAST!' I gave him props for tryin' to hang with the big dog...

At one point, with no other traffic for miles, we were cruising at over 125mph. Good fun, and not hairy at all. Very stable at those speeds....

Sitting at a red light and some muppet in a 02-05 thunderbird convertible starts revving it up like he wants to go. Since I dont get to play that often I figured I would enjoy this moment.

The light turns green and I bury the pedal. Needless to say I destroyed him. I didn't even need to keep it buried, it was awesome and his face painted a picture of a 1000 words!! Two lights up and I sit and wait watching him closing in my rearview mirror. The wet then pulls in behind me as he doesnt want to look me in the eye. HA HA!!

I know it doesnt even rate as a kill but hey, I enjoyed it.

was reading Car and Driver comparo of the new CTS-V Coupe v M3 v Audi RS5 (good article--I recommend for car lovers)

They had some info on the new cars for 2011.

A couple caught my eye: the new Audi Luxury sedan (A8) which I always thought was sexy--running a 5.1 0-60 and a 1/4 of 13.7 @ 104. Much improved and very respectable for a car of that size.

Also--the new 335i- changed to a single turbo and upped the HP to 320 from 300 (although it is well socumented that the previous claim of 300 is underated--they dyno at 275). Ran a 1/4 of 13.3 @108--much better trap than before. Has "overboost"...additional PSI under load and heavy rpms... also now has launch control.

Cars to keep an eye on out there...

On my way to lunch today, had a guy try me twice off of 2 different lights. I think he was very surprised that I edged him out both times. Still, he was a good sport about it... flashed me the peace sign when he turned. He clearly had as much fun with it as I did. Well, almost as much fun... losing sucks.:)

Saw a g37 entering the highway rather fast. I was in the fast lane so I waited as he dashed up between a few cars. I hit It just to play a little and let off. But he is coming up fast so I get over and let him pass. He proceeds to I guess go all out. Trying to be safe I follow him, but stay back going much slower than him. I finally get up to him when he slows down. I was not really trying to see whoes car could do top speed the best, just a race from 75 or so. I proceed to sit beside him. I roll down my window and honk, I hear his car Reving up like he dropped a few gears. We both hit it, maybe me first. At about 75 mph Im in sport mode with t/c off. Chirp tires and off. We were somewhat steady for a few seconds then, I put a few cars pretty fast on him, and then it was a steady pull. By about 125 I probably had 4 or 5 cars on him, maybe more. He then stayed back. Not sure if he thought his car was faster cause I got over to let him go before or what. I'm just not going to risk going over 125 unless I feel really comfortable about it.
