Your radio cd changer got stuck or died
Try unplug battery first
If you need a new one, I have one 08 and one 09 in good condition and I can program it to your car

PM me

I have the same problem but in cd slot 5. When I try to eject the disc I get this error message. I have not tried any other slots.

Actually just picked my car up last week from having the head unit replaced. Thankfully I have the extended warranty, if you do as well you're covered. The screeching beep from the radio everytime you turn the car on is enough to drive you mad!
Good luck.

I see the info along the lines that "Monaro" is referring to. In the manual they say if you get a display of *mechanism error* (can't find the words mechanism fault), that the CD changer has a problem. It says to disconnect, then reconnect the battery, which would then cause the CD player portion, to perform a 25 sec initialization check of itself. Maybe you'll have the luck of returning the radio back to normal operation again.

The "mechanism fault" is sometimes caused by a bad CD in the slot before the slot it complains about. (When my radio complained about slot 3 the problem was slot 2. I don't know why.) Letting the car sit in the sun for a few hours cured mine long enough to get the bad CD out.

I doubt this was your problem, but a good thing to look out for in the future is using CDs you make covers for in your home. My father made a CD and his own cover that the printer printed out and you just put it over the CD like a big sticker. Well, in the heat, half the sticker peeled off inside the CD player so it would never eject because it kept getting stuck. Don't think anyone on here would do that, my father sure learned his lesson to only use light scribe if he does make his own CDs, but still thought I would mention that to everyone to prevent a brain fart from happening.

Yep, not my same issue, but yes something people should look out for. For custom CD's I like to use lightscribe.

I have found that some of the CD's I burn cause the player to read them slowly, then not at all. Remove the offending CDs, and function returns to normal. Just keep pulling Cds until it works.
I guess I need to get better burning software.

yep, same happened to me. a home made cd with paper label got stuck. and it didn't eject until a hot humid day.

Mine is acting up all over again. Can't seem to get it to eject again. If I have to pull the battery to reset things every time I want to eject a CD I'm going to be a bit upset.

^^^ That's a bummer!! You may have to keep doing this from time to time. "IF" you can get to those fuses on the rear fuse block thru that small access cover, you could pull the F4 fuse (radio). Doing that is the same thing as pulling off either the + or - cable from the battery. If its doable, it would be a lot less annoying process.
