SLP cars are warrantied. My buddy has the SLP 454 Camaro. Don't take no for an answer!

Would you not expect a Roush Mustang with a supercharger bought brand new from the dealership to have a warranty?

Ever since SLP started doing these vehicles they have always warrantied their stuff and everything else was covered by the standard GM warranties..... if slp didnt touch trans, then it should be covered 100%..... if they modified the trans or the trans tune. then it only is covered by SLP warranty....

i would imagine SLP modified the trans tune thus it is only covered by slp warranty.... if there is documentation that clearly states the trans and stuff is still covered then it should be covered.... i am sure the paperwork or old info should state it clearly....

either way.... it sucks to have the trans go, good luck getting it fixed....

That is BS. It should be covered. That's how it works with all the SLP cars GM has sold through their dealerships. I hope they will actually listen to what you are saying. Good luck.

TCI has a 6 speed 4L80E. Holds 850hp, but it's not cheap.

Your only saving grace here might be that you have documentation of transmission issues while the car was still under the 3/36 warranty. Therefore, regardless of whether the Powertrain warranty is still applicable to an SLP car after the 3/36 or not, it should have/would have been covered when you first complained about the trans problem.

I think it's bull crap that there giving you the run around on this. Saying no warranty because of the supercharger would be just plane ignorant. So your telling me they wouldn't cover the drivetrain on the zl1, zr1, or cts-v? I understand their all production gm, but so is the fire hawk. It's just an outsourced collaboration specialty production. I like ^^^ idea, complain on social media. They don't like negative press. Like they say, the squeaky wheel gets the grease.

Really in my opinion the only reason to get a SLP firehawk was so that you would get the warranty where the rest of us would not..... you pay a 10x premium to get the SLP compared to what we modded our cars for.... I mean I could mod a g8 to be much faster than the firehawk for a whole bunch less..... so really the only reason in my mind to get a firehawk was the supposed warranty..... some may say it is special and may hold value better... but in the end the cost to benefit to getting a firehawk isnt there in my opinion..... except, again, for the theortical warranty.....

This is a no brainer.......GM is on the hook to fix this. It just seems like a dumb Chevy Dealership put a block on and they had no idea what they were actually dealing with. Give it time OP.............it will work out.

@pony killer, I would like to help with this one, but since G8Firehawk17 already has a case opened with General Motors, I have to leave it be so the agent can work on his concerns with the warranty block.

Happy Thanksgiving!

New information: GM customer service has contacted me and essentially said that GM will not cover the powertrain warranty due to "calibration" which I have to conclude equates to the fact that SLP's TCM is on the car and not a OEM G8 GT TCM. That's all I got...a 1 word explanation to a warranty block that will cost me a few grand to fix.

Also, the service manager from the dealership that the car current sits at tells me that he has uncovered that the G8 Firehawk was not a co-venture between SLP/GM but rather an SLP product available to dealerships. Meaning the car's powertrain warranty should have been voided at the time of purchase November 2009, but it wasn't until the TCM was read by a dealership in June 2011. If this is true, shouldn't the selling dealership and SLP both have documented that fact in some fashion and informed the customer before purchase?

None of it adds up. Anyone know an interested party in Firehawk 17 with a hurt tranny? This was my first and last GM product.

Oh man, sorry to hear this, i understand the frustration, Explore your options with a basic rebuild from Circle D, I think at your stock power levels, and a good real tune, that the trans would live a lot longer. at stock power levels she should be at what, 420-430rwhp ?

Ahhh.... now I see.... I just noticed that you dont only just have a stock firehawk, but you also put headers on it, a bunch of other stuff, and also changed out the maggie pulley and put on a small pulley.... cause you were selling the 3.1" pulley that you had on it for 1000 miles.... I am not sure how anyone thinks GM is screwed up if they add more power to a car that was not meant to have that power.... and also then they most likely not only did that , but they also changed the engine and trans tune on top of what SLP wanted..... I was feeling sorry for you but now I realize you are just like the rest of us that mod.... once we change it... we own it... if it breaks we should own up to it.... why put GM or anyone on the hot sheet for this.... you went above and beyond what GM and SLP had planned for this car... sorry dude... I had three 6L80's go on me and I am not complaining... I know what I am doing and if something breaks its on my own dollar...

Ahh crap, lol I was also feeling sorry because I thought the car was bone stock. Lol you get a bunch of mods and still expects repairs for free. Might as well get that century trans now and take it like it should.

The only comment I have about what you guys are saying here is that that information has not even surfaced with GM yet. The sole reason they have blocked the warranty was because they read the TCM last June and saw it was not a stock G8GT tune. I am being told from both GM and SLP that this car will never receive GM powertrain warranty from day 1.

Had anyone opened up the car and started investigating what actually caused the failure and then pointed to headers (which have no impact on powertrain) and/or the smaller pulley then sure there wouldn't be much to argue, but we never got there. This issue began last year when I asked to have a rough downshift into 4th investigated. The dealer stopped when they could not read the TCM and then forwarded to GM which then initiated the warranty block.

I agree with your points, but your points haven't even been discovered by GM at this point or used as an explanation for the warranty block. Only the TCM and that would screw anyone with a stock Firehawk, so the ultimate problem is still that GM will not cover that powertrain warranty and it's not disclosed to the buyer until it's too late.
