Default Tuners......HELP

I have a stablitiytrak intermittent problems. I did a new head and cam swap and pulled motor to have cam bearings installed.(car has dod delete also, detail in sig are current mods. I had the computer re-flashed to remove livernois tune from car so local tuner could tune car. My tuner has tuned the car and cant seem to find out why the stability control is going on and off. He has talked to Diablo and they are telling him that the ecm/bcm/pcm aren't communicating correctly. I don't know what to do. The problem comes up in the car when I'm in stop and go traffic yet doesnt show up when im at a steady speed (above estimated speed of say 45+). Is this a computer issue? Is it a Speed Sensor going out? Is it a Tune issue? Any new suggestions are welcome......

What did your tuner used to tune the car ? Was this done with the CMR stuff ?
Try taking the battery cable out, and then pull the PCM and TCM fuses, wait a minute, and put it back.

What do you mean by cmr? He used the new intune from Diablo.

CMR is the Pro tuning suite from Diablo, basically like HPTuners or EFIlive, but CMR is Diablo stuff, once they tune your car with it, they can provide a file that your intune handled can flash. The intune comes with with some simple modifications for people with a CAI and some mufflers, like a Cortex, i see in your sig you have cam and some other goodies, what is your tuner/you trying to do ?

we are trying to figure out why the stability control is going on and off. I'll post a video of what is doing here in a min.

Update: I got my buddies snap-on scanner, and I pulled two codes. First one being a p0106 (map sensor out of range) and a p0556 (brake booster pressure sensor) I've checked both in live data and neither look as if they are actually bad. Where should I look next, or am I actually missing something?

How big is the cam ?
Some cams can trigger the P0106, normally if you take the time to tune airflow, the issue goes away, if it doesn't because the cam is huge, the test needs to be disabled.
p0556 might be induced by a vacuum leak, or intake leak, so you might want to check for vacuum/intake leaks thoroughly to make sure there is nothing wrong mechanically. disabling the test for p0106 should be the last resource, after making sure there is nothing wrong mechanically, and the tune is right, so who knows what is the tune, but when things are not tuned properly, that error might pop up because the system is taking airflow readings outside of what the MAF/VE is expecting to see.
There is some steps here to troubleshoot the sensor, but your tuner should be doing this for you , and the first thing to check is to make sure the MAF is calibrated accordingly, and that your VE is calibrated accordingly, other things to check, IAT sensor, ETC Sensor, MAP sensor, etc, etc.

http://www.ls2.com/boggs/dtcs/DTC%20P0106.htm

Good luck.

I have checked for leaks and none are present. So I guess it is back to the tuner. Btw I do have a HSRK on a home built cold air intake.

Bypass the hsrk just in case to check, run the stock setup for the sake of it to see what happens.

I also removed HSRK to confirm that.

Have you checked the steering position sensor? That sensor will give you intermittent stability control problems if the sensor is failing.

Yup checked steering also, it seems that the issue is intermittent when the motor is below 1500rpm

hopefully he created you a custom tune using the CMR software and didn't just try to tune your setup/mods with the intune itself... because the canned tunes and adjustments in the intune itself won't be able to get things squared away correctly for your mods - it needs to be done with a custom tune via the CMR tuning software - the custom tune then gets imported into the inTune, and then you install the custom tune to the car using the intune tool...

there is nothing in the ecm/tcm that has anything to do with stabilitrak, so highly unlikely it's a tune issue... it could be a wheel sensor or abs sensor issue though, those would also trigger stabilitrak...

Yes he used cmr software. The problem is that it's not setting codes that would make since. Just the map and the break booster pressure

Ask your tuner to make sure VE is disabled in the tune, i'm sure he/she didn't touch the VE tables at all, with that big cam, and a stock VE, this P0106 issue would be easy to show up. once that's done, check to see if the code goes away. MAF needs to be scaled properly as well, if after taking this measures P0106 is still showing up, the tuner might have to disable the P0106 test. Keep in mind disabling P0106 is actually a safety issue, so make sure your tuner knows what he/she's doing, and would troubleshoot the tune, and you/him would check for mechanical conditions before disabling the test.

Your MAP tables in the engine diagnostic are not adjusted for the cam so it is going out of range. Unlike a stock cam, you don't have any vacuum with that cam at low rpm so it will throw a code until you adjust the table.

Rick, there is only a MAP delta table, and i think that's only for P0121, Max airflow vs RPM and IGNV would affect P0068, i cannot think of a table that would directly affect P0106, at least on top of my head, there is a Min/Max ECT temp, but that's just to disable P0101,P0106 and P0121 as a whole.

I think what's going in here is that the car is using both VE and MAF, and the MAF doesn't agree with VE and its MAP readings, thus reverting from MAF to VE, which is why the traction control comes on/off, i don't think he's seeing REP otherwise he would also be getting P0068.

I bet some e$, VE and MAF are stock, with your typical PE rape, injector massage and god knows what else to make the car idle and run at WOT. i've seeing it before, same code, tuned by one of the shops lots of people know about here , that of course i agree the cam is sized fairly decent, and would have very low vacuum readings, disabling the P0106 tests might be needed, but without looking at logs and tune, who knows
