Well it all depends on what your looking for. What cam would be "best" is very subjective. There are many people here that can help you pick a cam if you provide a little more info about what you plan on doing with the car. Are you looking for max power? Is street-ability a concern are you only headed to the track?

Edit: Sorry I see you already stated it's a daily driver. There are several threads on this topic. I'm sure if you search around a little bit you can find some good recommendations.

Livernois stage 1c, I used it with just bolt on's in my daily driver with stock converter and it had great driveability. It made 436 rwhp. There's other good ones out there too, that's just my personal favorite. But make sure and get a good tune as that will play a very large role in how good of a daily driver it makes. Good luck!

The LS9 cam should be worth 30-40hp NA. New from GM it's a little over $100.00, idles like a stocker, still has good low end, and pulls to 6500rpm.
I would also suggest using LS9 spark plugs #41-104 which are the colder than any other LS plug and get another deg or 2 of timing for more power.

Question I just thought about is, could he run the LS9 cam with 1.85 roller rockers for a little extra umphf?

Lift with 1.85 rockers would be .612 intake, .606 exhaust.

Has anyone else made numbers like that from the 1c cam? Those are the highest numbers I have seen for a stock heads stock stall cam/ bolt-on car.

Yeah those numbers are huge for a GT. IF you had a GXP then that would make more sense.

There's a video of it doing it on livernois website. Go to video's, then more videos at the bottom, then scroll down and it's listed as Ryan's G8 or something like that. It was the former owner, I had the maggie put on by them and they have a video of the dyno for my current setup, they just haven't posted it yet. It's a GT, and those are the real #'s from a dynojet. It also has ported intake & TB, but that wouldn't account for the difference in "huge" #'s. It's really all about the tune, and they do a great job!

Here's a link
It's listed as a 2008, but it's really a 2009. Also, i've since changed the wheels.

That's a stage 1 cam not a 1C. Which makes sense its basically the exact set up I have...

I was wondering what all the fuss was about, that was a mistype in my original post. That's my bad, sorry for the confusion. Although the 1c would probably be best suited for him if he doesn't want lope, as the 1c is the "stealth" cam.

True and since he has a GXP it would put him around that 440rwhp range.

Oh I wasn't trying to imply that you were providing false info I just havent seen a stock stall sized cam produce those kind of numbers before. Usually stock stall cams are like 410 at the wheels and a bigger stall cam is where you get into the 425-440 wheels hp range. Impressive.

Gr8t GT, you would recommend the LS-9 cam for a non FI setup? I have been pondering this as it is super cost effective.

Its cost effective if you do the work yourself. To spend a couple thousand only to save $300 on a cam seems silly. Maybe that's just me.

I have seen some decent results from people using the ls9 cam in FI applications but I really dont think it would make a very good cam for non FI. I doubt the gains would be worth the money spent.
