They said the base car should perform about the same as the C6 grand sport.

I want a Z51 with magnetic ride.

Yep, don't know about the quarter window or taillights- not very Vette-like. Looking forward to seeing it in person.
Performance should be great and the interior looks nice.

Actually, they said the base C7 will outperform the current GrandSport.

Lost 99LBS, nice. 7 speed manual with auto rev-matching also nice.

Wonder what the automatic will look like?

Based on the photos, I don't care for the Camaro rear-end, and for some reason, the rear quarter windows look Asian to me. I was also a little underwhelmed with the interior (although it looks better inside than the C6!). I will hold final judgement until I see one in person.

From what I saw looks like the same transmission they are currently using in the C6 for the auto.

They did mention it would outperform the GS as someone mentioned, but didn't go as far as calling out the zo6. I didn't think there was a significant performance difference between the z and GS but could be wrong. Interested to see how it stacks up against the usual suspects; 911, viper, etc.

Lost 99# in just one area. Upon reading the rest of the data floating around, the Car & Driver video interview and the PDF doc; the total weight loss is about double that.

The Grand Sport could out-accelerate the Base in magazine testing from 0-60 and 1/4-mile and other than wider rubber, they couldn't figure out why. GM Engineers alluded to some secrets on the GS but the reasons, if anything more than folklore, never came out.

My bad. You said difference between Z and GS. I thought you meant Base and GS.

Difference between GS and Z06 is MAJOR, especially if twisty-tracking it.

Im trading my G8 in for one in gunmetal & baseball glove interior. Gorgeous... The rear is like the old stingray.. and for the technology & build materials. Good value.

Le-Sigh. Shouldn't be surprised though, their new auto is still in development as well I believe.

Nope it looks like crap in person too.

http://editorial.autos.msn.com/lista...9168&icid=3888

The front end looks like they tried to cross a Viper and a Ferrari while the rear end looks like ASS, not sure WTF they were thinking there. All in all it looks like they wrecked the Corvette and all at a base price of 50k! PASS!

[QUOTE=BlueG8GT;984993]The quadrilateral shaped taillamps are blasphemy. QUOTE]

That is what everybody said when the hideaway headlights were nixed on the C6, but now it isn't even a talking point.

I'm on the fence with the taillights. I like the way the light transmits from them and how they have a deep look to them. To me the new C7 has more of an exotic flare to it, which it should. Afterall, it does compete with exotics and now it looks the part.

I'll be buying my lotto tickets on the way home today.

For the most part I like it. The grille opening seems like a little much though. Maybe they should have kept it a little smaller. I dont mind the tail light but the black plastic that extends down from them could have been left out. And the black diffuser part sure seems to come up awfully high on the bumper. And that rear quarter window reminds me of a GTR.

Same 6 speed transmission from current vette.

"A six-speed Hydra-Matic 6L80 paddle-shift automatic is also available. It is optimized for use with Active Fuel Management and features a lower-inertia torque converter for improved shift quality and shift speeds. In addition, shift feel and shift points can be adjusted through the Driver Mode Selector"

that video was odd. it kept building up to the reveal... then it'd go into another clip montage or interview or something. weird.

btw,

love the car.

Looking more like a previous gen Ferrari is not a bad thing...but like most I don't care for the rear end. It turned out not quite as bad I had thought based on the previous renderings, and having it be 2 tone helps, but it's still not well executed. Can't say I would never buy one though because of it like I did about the new Silverado's ugly front end. I don't care about the fact that the lights are not round like Corvette purists, but they just aren't executed right and yes they remind too much of a camaro, etc. Should be distinctive at least on the halo car for the brand.

I personally like the new rear side window, I know some probably don't. Think it adds to the profile view nicely.

Interior looks very nice and a much needed upgrade from C6, but for some reason I think the steering wheel is kind of ugly. Seats look to be really nice!

Who knows, maybe one day one will find a home in my garage. Need to see how it looks in person and in other colors.
