I thought that I'd start a thread for factory ls cams, specs, and part numbers. Hope it helps someone down the road. It sure would have helped me.

Great job. Now that they're all on one page, gives people a quick reference to compare against custom and vendor cam offerings.
Thanks for posting this up.

I've seen some different lift values stated for the LS7 and LS9 cams, and I believe the LS7 gets some of its lift from higher ratio rockers (1.8), so it wouldn't have the same lift in a motor with stock 1.7 rockers.

2001 LS6 Cam specs 207/217 @.050 .525/.525 lift 116 LSA
02-04 LS6 Cam specs 204/218@.050 .550/.550 lift 117.5 LSA

The .525 lift cam was in the 2001 LS6 with 385 hp and the .550 lift cam was in the 2002-2004 LS6 w/405 hp.

Also, LSA: 198/216 .480/.480 115 from what I can find.

Awesome. Thanks for the correction. Man, that LSA cam is small. So far I'm loving my 180$ ls2 cam.

I bet that thing runs good with the LS2 cam snd 1.85 rockers. If you think about it, we get better heads and intakes than the LS2 cars, and yet the L76 is rated at 39 less HP and 15ft lbs less torque. The L76 is just begging for a better cam, and that's why they respond so well to air-flow enhancing mods.

Your LS7 cam lift numbers are with 1.8:1 rockers so you might want to make a note of that.
The lift numbers with 1.7 rockers is .558/.558

The LS3 cam, #12623063 is cheap too, at under $140 from most online dealers. It it one or three bolt?

#10 ·
3 bolt

^ What he said ^ the ls3 cam paired with 1.85 rockers is too much for 918 springs tho. I was set on running the 918's. My dod is till active as well.

Side note, I was neck and neck with a srt8 magnum this morning from a roll. That is without being retuned since I installed my cam. I'm happy with that.

NOt to mention you are still on factory manifolds and cats right?

Thank you for doing all the research on those cams.

#16 ·
Haha, we know how that would end. You got about 50 horse and .5 sec on me. I'm shooting for march 2nd still for test n tune.

My Rick Crawford intake/tb just got dropped off. Looks amazing!

Everyone needs a bench mark! BTW you hope it is .5 seconds lol. It ain't .5 until you run it. James full bolton G8 never got below 12.83. My bolt on PB was 12.64 before the rockers and gears homie...

#18 · (Edited)
12.6 before rockers and cam. I have a cam now, a small one, but still a cam. Was the 12.6 with Ricks intake?

My goal is 400 whp, 12.5 @ 110

#19 ·
12.6 was before all of that. Fastest bolt on stock stall, street tire, sunroof, white hot, leather interior, lowered, 20in rim having g8 in cali LMAO...

Check out those cams prices at gm parts direct! They're stupid cheap! The LS9 cam is under $100, the LS3 cam is $110!!! Damn I know what I'm doing this summer, I'm slapping that LS3 cam in my car!

What do ya'all figure the LS3 am would be worth? I'm already running 12.5's at 112mph should that cam put me in like the 12.2's or better?

#21 ·
Contact Rick about the ls3 cam. He has put it in a few g8's and is a fan of it. Do you plan on changing the rockers?

#25 ·
Just an FYI the 01 ls6 specs are incorrect for duration.

they are 204 211

#28 ·
Thanks!!

#30 ·
Yes, to run a ls7 cam you would at least need a springs. I don't however think that most would recommend that cam. It's your car, I'm not sure of your plans.

Thanks for the updates on the duration. I made changes to the op. I also added the chart you guys provided, thanks for that as well.
