Holy Crap!!!!! That's awesome! In your face, Car and Driver (in quoting last month's issue, "G8 sales have been off as much as 50% since it's introduction")

I'm glad I was able to help the cause! I really hope GM keeps going with the incentives considering that Chrysler is offering some strong ones now.

I'm glad I was able to help as well! I just wonder how many sales they pulled ahead in fear of a Bankrupt GM and loss of GM Card dollars (I was one)

That means that 21 percent of all G8s sold to date have been sold in the last two months (in 2009).

Have you seen those things? I was very un-impressed. They had two at the dealership when I bought my G8 GT and the sticker was in the $17K range. I kind of laughed and told the saleslady good luck on selling these.

Only 6196 Buick badged vehicle sold in February, compared to 14,200 Pontiac badged vehicles February. Yep, I say we get rid of Pontiac and keep Buick

Amazing what some advertising and several months of low gas prices will do.

Attorneyguy - what was your source for this information?
The Feb 09 G8 sales number is more than double the previous month, and about double the monthly average since inception. Meanwhile, GM just announced a 53% decline in total sales for Feb 09, all the while consumer confidence is tanking.
So how does Pontiac explain the sudden jump in G8 sales?

by the fact that there were apparently a whole bunch of people out there waffling about dropping 32K on a new G8, but were not afraid to drop 6k to 8k less for the same car. (such as I am about to do)

The information is straight from GM's official press release today.
While G8 sales have gone through the roof, the sales of other GM vehicles is way down (bringing down overall sales). For example, only 8,300 Chevy Cobalts were sold in February 2009 even though nearly 17,000 were sold in February 2008. Or consider how only 1,500 Saturn Auras were sold last month, while 4,833 were sold in February 2008.
The thing is, GM doesn't even expound on the G8 sales in its press release, even though the figure is very surprising. Let's see if similar numbers continue in March. We should see more G8 advertising during March Madness...

Seriously. If you are a non-G8 owner out there reading this and have been debating whether to get one either now or when the economic recovery takes hold, the time is clearly NOW! These are some of the best deals in history. I paid MSRP for my G8, and would gladly do it again. But you can get the same car today (sans the Atari gauges I have in my 2008) for $7,000 less. Get to your Pontiac dealership now!
You also will be doing your part in saving GM and stimulating the economy!

By the way, I wish we could find out how many GXPs have been sold. That data is not available...

Thanks for posting this. I thought the number would be high as I am seeing many more G8's recently, but over 2000 that is a pleasant surprise.

Those are not the same "Buicks" they sell in North America. They are GM Chinese designed and built in China that happen to have Buick badges on them. Nothing Buick about them....but I guess you could have the same arguement about the G5.
