The Kids Are Still Alright
I just watched The Who during the Superbowl halftime and they rocked! Roger Daltrey sounded good and Pete Townsend can still jam. I don't know who was the guy on the drums, but he was doing a good job bangin' those skins. We're all wasted!!!

Yeah, I was rocking out. My wife was like "who are these people". Oh, so sad.

Pete didn't smash his guitar!
First halftime show I've enjoyed in quite a while.

Meh..... As much as I like The Who, I can't bothered to watch the halftime shows. They make them do too much to the point it is like "Hooked on (name of band here)". Then they try and make them relevant by throwing some popular crap pop artist out with them to sing a stanza or chorus.
Instead, I have been watching the rerun of "Band of Brothers" on HBO now that they have transferred it to HD and as a prelude to "The Pacific" that starts soon. Such great mini-series.

Well you missed a good halftime show, for once. The Who is far from being some pop artists, that's for sure.

I didn't say they were pop artist's... Reading comprehension is a valuable tool at times.

Maybe if you didn't make a generalized statement people would know what you're talking about. If you don't watch the Superbowl halftime shows why are you posting here? We don't care about some HBO show that I don't even get anyway.

I have seen them and they get turned off. Like tonight. They start playing a super abbreviated version of "Pinball Wizard" for 30 seconds and then jump right into "Baba O'Reily". I didn't wait around to see what song was next after another 30 seconds to find out what the next chopped up songs were. The half-time shows are all the same, except when they happen to show .4 seconds of nipple. It may have been a generalized statement, but they are generalized shows. Sorry, if you like the concerts for the ADD masses.

It wasn't a concert, it's a show the band put on in a limited amount of time. I've been around long enough the see some great bands like them in concert, so it was cool to see them perform a few of their popular songs even if they were cut short. Evidently you don't know much about good music anyway if you compare some no name bands on HBO to such a fantastic band like The Who.

The show was GREAT!! I had to crank the surround sound. Just jumped off of FB and noticed the 20 year olds and younger did not care for it, and even made comments of about being half dead. If only they knew. I do believe they, The Who, has the loudest concert ever, still in the record books, I believe. Would have love it if they would have said the line, "Who the F#*k are you!", since now the radio stations skip that part thru.

The loudest concert I ever saw was Rush, we had 10th row seats inside the Ampitheater and my ears were ringing for days. I've seen them 4 times and they are definitely one of my all time favorite bands to see live.

Good half-time show by the Who, but really man these guys are in the 60s...and they haven't released any relevant or popular music in over 25 years....**** if that is the standard then next year I want sum Skynrd, AC/DC & Motorhead god dammit!!!!!!

Lynyrd Skynyrd hasn't released any good music since Street Survivors. Luckily I got to see the original band before the tragic accident. AC/DC died when Bonn Scott passed on, they were never as good with the new singer.

^^ my daughter said Daltrey looked like my Mom. Daltrey's voice still sounded good, as did Townsend's guitar, but Pete has lost vocal high end, though, and needs to button his bottom shirt buttons - don't need to see a big ol 60-year old belly flopping out behind the red strat.
IMO, That's not really the Who - John Entwhistle is dead in a Las Vegas Hotel room (who was my favorite member), and when Moon died that was really then end of the actual Who. Good facsimile, though. I think that was the drummer for Oasis?

There will never be a drummer like Moon, he was in a world of his own. Same thing goes for John Bonham from Led Zeppelin, which is why Plant and Page decided to call it quits without him.

Loved that they didn't have 300 kids running out onto the field in matching clothes waving shirts or streamers or whatevers, pretending like they knew the lyrics. The stadium crowd did just fine singing along.
Also I just had to lol at DRcustomparts. Sorry man, but "Band of Brothers" is a mini-series about WWII in Europe.

^^ Which I always thought was a great, emotional, stand-up decision. Could you imagine somebody shutting down that gravy train today? Would never happen. They'd make a reality show about Bonham's replacement with transvestite deaf midgets and American Idol judges.

Ummm, Band of Brothers was a mini-series about Easy Company of the 101st airborne during WWII that collaborated directly with the surviving men of Easy Company that were there.
The Pacific is the same concept, but about the (go figure) war in the Pacific during WWII.
In short, they're not 'no name bands' lol. Evidently you don't know much about real life heroes anyway to compare em to some old hippies like The Who.
