Default G8 GT V8 NOT E85 capable! Do not put any in tank!!

I studied the spec sheet that came off my 2009 G8 GT, it states that the 6.0l V8 is E85 (Flex fuel) capable........that I was not aware of.

Anyone else can confirm this?

That would be nice!

Doubt it, but that would be nice...

What does the owners manual say?

Doubt it is E85 compatible. Otherwise there would be a big green decal on the trunk lid. And it would be advertised as such.

Here are the 2009 models GM offers that include flex-fuel capability at no additional charge to the customer:

Chevrolet: Avalanche, Express, HHR, HHR Panel, Impala, Silverado, Suburban, Tahoe
GMC: Savana, Sierra, Yukon, Yukon XL
Cadillac: Escalade, Escalade ESV, Escalade EXT
Hummer: H2, H2 SUT
Buick: Lucerne

Define "spec sheet". The window sticker?

Any of the experts or 2009 G8 owners have any comments?

General Motors has left Pontiac out in the cold when it comes to Flex-Fuel Vehicles. Of the E-85 compatible GM vehicles offers in 2009, not one of them is a Pontiac.

For 2009, General Motors offers 18 FlexFuel models capable of running on E85 ethanol, ordinary gasoline or any combination of the two – more than any automaker.

The models cover the gamut from the four-cylinder Chevrolet HHR small crossover to the full-size Cadillac Escalade ESV luxury utility.

E85, which consists of up to 85 percent ethanol mixed with gasoline, is a cleaner-burning, higher-octane fuel that can help offset rising demand for oil.

“We continue to believe that biofuels, specifically E85, is the most significant thing we can do in the near-term to offset future energy demands,” said Beth Lowery, GM vice president of Environment, Energy and Safety Policy. “We are on target to make 50 percent of our vehicles flex-fuel capable by 2012 providing the infrastructure is in place.”

Infrastructure includes both the availability of the E85 fuel and stations where it is sold. Currently fewer than 1,600 of the 170,000 gasoline stations in the country offer E85, leaving many flex-fuel vehicle owners unable to take advantage of the fuel choice their vehicle offers.

GM cars and trucks account for 3 million of the 7 million flex-fuel vehicles on U.S. roadways and the company produced more than 1 million flex-fuel models in North America and Brazil last year.

Here are the 2009 models GM offers that include flex-fuel capability at no additional charge to the customer:

Chevrolet: Avalanche, Express, HHR, HHR Panel, Impala, Silverado, Suburban, Tahoe
GMC: Savana, Sierra, Yukon, Yukon XL
Cadillac: Escalade, Escalade ESV, Escalade EXT
Hummer: H2, H2 SUT
Buick: Lucerne
Could just be the L76 as used in trucks might be E85

Yes, it was from the window sticker..........I have to scan a picture if it so you guys can see. I haven't had time to read the owners manual on it........I'm returning home from vacation with the G8 tomorrow........and I have then put 3500 miles on it in two weeks. S we will see for sure if the E85 is a fact or fiction.

I am looking at the window sticker from my 09 MGM G8 Gt and do not see any reference to E85 and I am pretty sure they would plaster that all over the MECHANICAL section of the sticker. The only thing that is said about the engine is the DoD:

ENGINE, 6.0L V8 SFI WITH ACTIVE FUEL MANAGEMENT SYSTEM

It's so small I can't read it.

Edit:That says Flex fuel in the pic above. Mine does not say that.

Yep it says, "Flexible Fuel Vehicle* Gasoline - Ethanol(E85)"

I wonder if this is some printing mistake?

Interesting....What's the VIN? Be interesting to see if later VINs have that as well.

More thought. Do other E85 vehicles also have the E85 city and hwy MPG figures published on the window sticker?

I just purchased an '09, but my window sticker doesn't have that sentence in it. I'm in CA and noticed the one in the picture was from IL. I haven't read anything in my manual regarding E85. It may be a misprint.

176465 are the last 6 digits of the VIN.

This is the exact car my wife wants for her G8 GT. (We wont be in the market though for about 8 or 9 months though) It is located about 200 miles from me but the picture was taken by my father as he works at this particular dealership. They just got it in on Monday I believe. I guess I'll have to ask him to check out the other 2 09's that were in (1 a GT) to see if they have the same sticker. I've also sent an e-mail to Pontiac to get a response on this question. Anyone else have this on their window sticker?

Just checked my sticker, '09 GT TPW 18 March 08, no Flex Fuel statement. Maybe this is something new with the more current, i.e., mid MY models?
