Default 2013 Austrailian V8 Supercars in Austin GTG discussion

I'm not sure if this has come up yet, but has anyone discussed the idea of a G8 gathering at the 2013 Austrailian V8 Supercars in Austin GTG?

Has anyone contacted the organizers (V8 Supercars Australia Pty Ltd) about the possibility of teaming up for a display of cars at the event?

I don't mind doing the legwork, but I didn't want to derail the plans of someone who already took the initiative to plan something.

All depends on the date. Got a reunion coming up, either taking my truck or my G8 there....
Austin, my home town, and miss it.

I believe it's going to be in June sometime from what I gather. Would be quite the haul for me driving from PA but that all hinges on vacation time/new home/possibly getting hitched and all of that stuff. I will be there for sure! Don't know if I will be driving or flying. Hope to put some faces to forum names!

I plan on going if the event happens. Last I heard, they stopped building the track because of some falling out with the F1 people. I'm not sure the track will be built. Maybe something has changed since I last looked into this.

There has been talk with the G.O.N.E. attendees that this event would be the most logical for the interNational G8 Meet for 2013. Bracketracer has been the lead man for the previous two international meets, and has put together this years, but has stated that he would be more than happy to give guidence to whoever takes on doing the footwork.
We are planning on being there either way. Hopefully the national meet will be there.

If that is the case then I will start saving up for the trip right now. I know I would absolutely LOVE to have the national meet at the race. That would be one absolutely epic scene for us G8 owners here in the states and one hell of a welcome for the guys and gals coming from down under to be a part of this race. I have been debating on going to this coming years but with the possibility of settling on a house around that time I'm not quite sure yet.

Well hell's bells then I guess you won't meet me. LMAO! I'll take the mask off before I leave on the trip I was thinking about getting a shirt made that has my forum handle on it since I have the same name on all of my Jeep forums and G8 forums and even the Adams forum! I know a lot of guys are closer to Texas and it would be nice to shake some hands and share a few beers with the forum guys and gals.

I plan on going. Dont think I'll be driving but you never know. 1,280 miles in the G8 would be fun.

I hope to meet up with other like minded fools to enjoy the festivities!!

What is the date? I am 100% going to this. I need to put in for vacation now. How many days will this event be? I know the race is only one day, but will it be a week long event like nascar?

If the G.O.N.E. organizers want to 2013 meet to Austin, I can help with the planning. Hopefully, Braketracer can chime in on this thread.

In the meantime, I've sent an email to V8 Supercars & Circuit of the Americas to see if they are interested.

Maybe Holden would be interested in sponsoring a hospitality tent for G8 / GTO owners, where we could all park together, gather, drink, etc.

All the manufacturers in the American Le Mans series (Audi, BMW, Chevy, Porsche, et al) do this for their fans/owners at all the races, and it's a great experience.

I am officially now chiming in. I need/welcome/require someone local there in Austin to be able to help arrange some of the logistics. I am very interested in the event coinciding with the V8 Supercar Series for 2013. Boss Hogg, I am going to PM you with my cell number, and we need to talk directly in the next few weeks. It would be nice to get alot of the details nailed down prior to this year's event.
