Default Thinking about selling the G8 for a Challenger 392 SRT8

Hey guys, I am thinking about selling the G8 for a Challenger
SRT8 392. The kids are getting older, and we already have an Excursion and a minivan (<--wife's car, I promise!).

Anyone on the boards have one? Just looking to see how you like it. The G8 is an awesome car, but I really want a coupe and the Mustang is just too small for this bigg'n.

Ha, fair enough. I love the G8, and it's been a remarkable car, but like most car guys (and some car gals I am sure), I get the itch every few years for something different.

I love the new Challenger. Looks and sounds great in stock form. It would be my choice if I was looking for something new.

I would hold out on that. Is the the Challenger getting replace within the next model year or two? And yes, booo. I'd at least wait to see the SS. Have to remember, there were talks of a G8 coupe, and might happen(doubt it) with the SS. Just my .02

I love the new Challenger and say get whatever you want. I'm a fan of any performance car. My friend unfortunately has had some bad luck with his 2012 Challenger R/T which I'm sure is out of the norm. If you do get one post pics.

I like coupes, and I like the look of the car. What I dislike:

Aftermarket is limited on the car
It's heavy
It needs exhaust

Pros:
Looks cool (subjective of course)
470hp
Brembos
Six speed manual
Comfortable and VERY roomy
Navigation, heated steering wheel
New suspension for 2012 so it handles better
Reminds me of riding around with my late grandfather back in the mid 70s in his 71 Cuda'.

Don't forget the rolling computer codes that stop you from being able to tune them so that kinda sucks.

I cross-chopped the Challenger with the GXP, actually. The Charger would have been more tempting, but it could not be had with a manual in any trim, which was a deal-breaker.

In the end, I went with the GXP for the sedan form-factor because it's just eminently more useful. It was also less expensive, faster, and the SRT-8 just rode too darn high and reviews didn't peg it as a handler.

The newer ones handle better, and that engine is a beast. But yeah, you can't tune 'em. For aftermarket modifications, the GM LS small blocks are STILL hard to beat. It's our car bodies and suspensions you can't get parts for, not the engines.

So your options if you really really want a coupe that I'd feel comfy recommending are the new Mustang or... a Camaro. Maybe the ZL1?

Stop, Go, Turn, and Show. I've changed them all on my car, and it's been a labor of love in my garage for almost all of them.

GO WOLFPACK!

Diablo Sport has cracked the ECM.

You can now tune them which makes it even more tempting.

Details, mods sorry if this steps on toes. Delete if necessary.

Does Diablo Sport support a trans tune or only ECM?

One thing I have to say about mopar is parts are 5x expensive. I would think real hard before you buy. That's why I sold my mopar for a gm. Tuning is much harder and more expensive. And the company just sucks more.

I say go for it. If you can afford it, it's a no brainer.

It sucks your too big for some of the smaller sports cars.

A no brainer for me would be to take that same amount of cash and hunt a used C6 z06 w/ z07 package. That is a true monster of a car.

I would do it, but honestly at the price point I would pick up a slightly used CTS-V or a C6 Z06. If hadn't already sunk so much money into my G8 I would have done it long ago. Anyway, the SRT8 Challenger looks good, has updated technology and most importantly, has a 6 speed manual option. You've already got a people-mover, so a 2-door is great. Go for it man.
