Default Who Likes EVO's

so lastnight after watching red dawn with my wife we turned on a main street and an evo X wanted to play @ 40mph roll I took him. The second time at 40 I tried the sport manual abd he pulled on me... Then we both stopped I honked three times and I got him prob a car length at the end of a quarter. Then he asked if we could do a roll at 20mph... Same outcome... It was a great feeling! Especially cause he still had his dealership plate and temp tags lol I was wondering how all of you fair against the jap machines?

I've seen them jump into the low 12s easily. Be careful I would only own one if I lived in serious snow

they can be fast cars, I personally stay away from racing them off the line. I rolled race a X mr (i think thats what it was) and beat it pretty easily. Off the line they can be scary.

The new ones look like crap, im a true fan of the evo 7-9s
BTW are you stock and what kind of EVO you race? Theres the GSR, MR and even a raliart but i dont think thats consider an EVO??

i had a 05 with acd they are nice, but over priced and never launch them unless you have some cash to play with. I like the 8s and 9s but cant stand the x looks terrible. Great in snow... and mud but i had a 05 wrx and liked it a lot more

I have a 91 gaylant VR4 (grand daddy to EVO) as my second car. They can be fast and 8-9 with tune and maxed boost can run 11's so dont think they cant be fast from a roll. I was big into the DSM's years ago, started a performance shop with an old friend working on just DSM's back in CO, so I have a little love for them.

I have had 8 dsms and always thought i would end up in a evo, but i wanted a change. I knew way too much about the 4g63. I look forward to building an engine for this car eventually.

An evo can be a pretty quick car for sure, but reliability with power is nothing compared to the g8.

I have respect for them however I would never own one. I don't like the styling or the persona that comes along with them.

They beat me at the track...i beat them everywhere else. Older evos looked cooler...but I like the looks of a good ol subie instead.

I agree with what most are saying, i respect them, but wouldn't own one. I haven't had any be real challenging any which way from roll or dig, but on a mostly stock g8, I wouldn't race them from a dig. I think there a nice all wheel drive rally car, great in the rain, snow, and dirt, but not the best for high speed racing. But that's just my .02 cents.

My brother's is 515 AWHP right now and it's detuned from what it could be for drivability reasons. They can be pretty fast in high speed races.

Haha yea, most aren't. Mine should be done in a few weeks, so it'll be interesting to compare our two rides. I'm shooting for 600 rwhp (trying to avoid running too much boost for the transmissions sake). Supposedly, his setup handles a couple of hundred more horses than he's putting out. He's just doing 515 to stay reliable and safe lol.

Nice! Ya, I opted to stay at 9 psi for the rear ends sake. I've seen plenty of guys running stock trannies and internals with over 700 rwhp, but they all had built rear ends and driveshafts. If I uped it to 10 psi and up the rpm's to 7k I should be around 630rwhp or so. But the guys at livernois told me 600 was as far as they'd push the stock rear axels, especially with it being a dd lol. Good luck on your build, let me know how it comes out!
