Default Independent VCM OTR Testing

Folks, scrolling through some of the forum threads it occurred to me that a test I came across from a company in New Zealand that now buys our OTRs (wasn't at the time of the test as they wanted to know for themselves which would be the most appropriate for their market), could be worth a view.

The fellas at Speedtech in NZ are serious about performance and proved it by performing tests on a range of OTR intakes (most of which you would not have seen in the USA) including ours (without our knowledge, for which I applaud them because it make for a genuine unbiased approach).

Check out the YouTube vid for details:

Worked well for me! They did a very nice job with the test and sharing the results both untuned and tuned. Way to go VCM!

I wish he would say "Fish and Chips", they have a different accent in NZ haha!

VCMSWT, what is the conversion factor from KW to HP?

Thanks for the Vid, great to see the gains considering this was only on a dyno, and could possibly be greater on the street. This intake shines! Thanks for making a great product, well worth it, I really like mine!

Language translation.

Methless = Mafless in Aust / US English.

Lord of the Rungs is also a favourite of mine. LOL

Good vid that with some OTR's I've haven't seen before. Thanks for posting.

Gotcha. Only thing is I doubt that after someone has a vcm or orssom they will want to go to a non otr intake. Maybe someone will trade you a vararam but they arent real show quality.

Very cool video, thanks for sharing! Looks to have been an unbiased review of several intakes, however, it was interesting to me to find that they don't seem to have any "stock airbox location" style CAI's over in AUS (or at least not in this review?) ... as the Rotofab intake is one of the more popular ones in the states, but perhaps the reviewer wanted to keep his comparisons direct, and for that I don't blame him.

I love my VCM intake, have had it on the car for over 2 years now, hard to believe!

I believe they are running 98 octane gas which would help their numbers. Cheers.

Go thru JHP out if Aussie, mine was shipped via DHL and was very fast, I think it only took 2-3 days from there. Not sure if they are closed for Holiday right now, think I read that on another thread. The JHP dealer out of the US closed.

In the early days of the VE, the side mount "pod filter CAI" was the go down here, but after a couple of years, the OTR's came out and it was game over in Aust for the for side mount pod CAI. You can still buy them in Aust, but not the popular choice amongst the rev heads down head. Depending on who you speak to in Aust (and which state), it's also illegal to have an exposed air (oiled) air filter in Aust. The same may apply to NZ where the video was made.

If you start modding the donk, 98 octane (highest rated pump fuel available) is the preferred fuel in Aust and I assume in NZ too.

JHP should be back now. Most Aust businesses are back either straight after New Years day or the first full week following New Year.
