Default We need Natural Selection

Do people lack the thought of looking around and reading things before they purchase? Or are we destined to have this world be continuously over run by Darwin award nominees?

I'm at the local car wash getting salt off. And watch/listen this guy in his Bimmer talk to another fellow about how his 3 series is the greatest thing since the Big Bang.go through the autowash, and I know for a fact theres a sign right next to the selections that says "Warning BMW vehicles should not use this touchless wash." Because it damages their clearcoat more so than other touchless washes apperently.

why is it called common sense if its so rare?

There are natural selection, but we prohibit it with action camouflaged it as "humane" and "the right thing", under flags of "political correct".......well you get the picture.

I said the same thing, someone told me it had to due with the type of clearcoat bmw uses is susceptible to this "low quality" touchless clear coat protectant. Idk how true that is.

I use to work at a quick lube that had a car wash next to it. The car wash would flat refuse to wash certain automobiles because their mirrors were prone to breaking off and they were tired of paying to replace them.

That really doesn't surprise me about BMWs. Their quality has been on a steady decline for the past few years. I have two friends that both own fairly new BMWs and they are constantly bringing them to the shop with various issues. One of them was having problems with her 5 series transmission not shifting into the next gear, when she brought it to the dealership they kept it for 4 days and couldn't get it to replicate the problem. When she went to pick it up they tried to charge her a 500 dollar diagnostic fee.

I've never heard that about BMW. I did hear that any silicone products on a Porsche Cayenne damages its clear coat. I even heard that the Porsche dealers would void the paint warranty if silicone products were used on the paint.

I don't know how much truth there is to that though.

need pic of said sign.

Please be careful in discussion here though, this borders on religious discussion and we can't go down that path.

There was a similar warning at car washes near me for one of the generations of Ford Taurus. Their bumper cover would be pulled off in the automatic car washes.

The Bimmer owner doesn't care. He probably gets a new one every couple years before his neglect begins to show.

Wow, you'd like to think that paying big bucks for a BMW would get you a sturdy paint job. Non-touchless car washes, yeah, they're asking for trouble, but a touchless should be good-to-go, at least occassionally, for any car.

Now, the fact that they still leave a layer of dirt on the car, that's another issue LOL!

"...Stupid people shouldn't breed..."

Saw a bumper sticker that said that...thought it was funny at first, not anymore with what goes on nowadays.
