Default Just realized my tips are chrome...

My tips looked like this when I got them and I had scrubbed them with some soap and water but never realized how filthy they actually were. I assumed they were just stainless steel with a bit of buildup...

I used steel wool 0000 and some never dull polish and they still are not perfect but cleaned up real nice.

Yeah mine were the same way when I got the car. The previous owner obviously never thought to clean them.

Same here. Meguier's Chrome polish and a applicator pad with A LOT of elbow grease helped mine.

Just washed mine for the first time today and was wondering about that. Thanks for the heads up.

Would an SOS bad be too coarse?

Yup! Try soap and water and some chrome polish. And patience!

Waaay too coarse. Use soap and water first (dishsoap) for initial clean up. Super fine steel wool will take off most of the surface caked on gunk. Then follow with your choice of polish. Be patient and you will have some killer looking tips!

it pains me to know my pair of authentic SLP take-off tips are rusting away from neglect as I daily drive the g8 through the winter. Ah well, maybe I'll hire someone to polish them up in the springtime "good as new".

My stock GT muffler tips were oxidized beyond polishing though, before I even got the car.
