Default Test drove a 2013 Accord today

Looking for a new daily driver for the wife I went car shopping today. She currently drives a 2009 Accord Coupe EX-L V6 which I can't stand but she is in love with. It has plenty of power but torque steers like a mofo and transmits a ton of road noise no matter what tires you use.

The new Accord Sedan EX V6 I drove today was a really nice car. I mean really nice car. Very little road noise, felt super composed on the road and had more than enough power. They also gave it a 6 speed automatic with a true sport mode selection unlike our current accord with its lazy 5 speed auto with no sport mode.

The new accord also has a crazy amount of tech. If you turn your right turn signal on, a video display of what your passenger side mirror would see shows up on the huge center console. It has a slightly larger field of view than what you would see in the mirror. Now you should still look over your shoulder at your blind spot, but the fact that you never really have to take your eyes off the road to check your mirror is pretty slick although I never used it.

It came with a back up camera that has three different views you can switch from, and noise canceling microphone and speakers in the cabin. The seats were nice as well. On top of that the car gets 31mpg highway which is a big bump over the weak 26 our current accord has. I can see why motor week gave this car the midsize car of the year award. I like it a little bit more than my Kia Optima, although the Optima is better looking...

It better be for the sticker. I hear they're quite pricey.

Yeah it stickered for 30000, but who pays sticker? Our current accord stickered 30k but I got it for 26k.

I had a Honda Prelude many moons ago... Such a bad experience that I swore not to buy a Honda product ever again.

If you get it, I hope Honda does better for you than what did to me.

XV is pretty nice for a DD imo. It was a little icy here yesterday, everyone was driving 20-30 miles under the speed limit and I just manuvered around them all with ease.

Hondas dont come with roadside assistance btw <- who didn't see that coming lol

Yeah but most insurances have it included now. At least every single one I have had does.

Also off topic here how are you liking the XV overall? What type of MPG's are you getting? We are contemplating a new DD for my wife. We love our Grand Cherokee but she isn't happy with the fuel economy, it doesn't bother me as much as her. She does mostly city/stop and go traffic and little highway. We've been looking at some VW TDi's lately and seems to be the best option. If you want not to clutter poor Yeti's thread you can pm me. Sorry to threadjack Yeti!

For 395 they offered a road side assistance package on the Accord...

Curious... would she consider a Buick Verano? Good read on how it stacks up against the Camry and some pricier cars...

2013 Buick Verano Review – Motorists.org
January 24, 2013
The “key facts” press release that came with the 2013 Buick Verano I test-drove this week states that target competition is primarily the Lexus IS 250 and Acura TSX, which are entry-luxury (and compact-sized) sport sedans.
Ok, sure — especially when Verano is equipped with the new-for-’13 2.0 liter, 250 hp turbo engine and (yes!) six-speed manual transmission.
In that case, it kills them both on price — and matches or beats them on straight-line performance (especially the slow-mo and way overpriced $35,065 to start Lexus, which tops out at just 204 hp and needs 8 embarrassingly long seconds to creep to 60… 8.3 if your order it with AWD).
But I think Buick is missing a marketing opportunity. While the Verano stacks up well against those relatively low-volume (and fairly high-priced) entry-luxury sport sedans, it could do some real damage if the nearly half-million people annually who buy a new Toyota Camry took the time to cross shop Verano.
Which they ought to.
They’re priced about the same ($23,080-$29,105 for the Buick vs. $22,055-$30,115 for the Toyota) and though the technically mid-sized Camry is slightly larger on the outside than the technically compact Verano, the Buick actually has almost as much interior space (more space, in at least one key area) with appreciably less space in only one area (backseat legroom).
And both cars are soft cars — Gentle Bens, with one-finger steering and ultra-cush rides. Only the Buick is cusher — and nicer.
But without being — and this is key — an old fogey’s car.
This Buick is a lot like Buicks used to be, ages ago. When they were classy, stylish, sporty — and cush. But not geezermobiles, either.
Which let’s face it, the Camry has become.
