637rwhp 682rwtq with 100% stock motor
Just got off the dyno, and am totally stoked.
100% stock motor (No cam)
100% stock tranny (No stall)
Only two mods to the car
- HOB Turbo Kit
- Magnaflow Catback
This run was on 14psi and the same tune that I ran the 11.00@129 times at. Best MPH was actually 130mph but I only went 11.1 due to hitting the revlimter on the 1-2 shift.
Well you can see this is about all your gonna get out of stock cam, she is DONE making power after 6,000rpm.
If you want more details, they are in this thread below
http://www.g8board.com/forums/showthread.php?p=121583
I can't whip the smile off my face, this thing MOVES!

Once again amazing results. I really think those power levels are starting to push it though.

No doubt its pushing it. But its got about 25 dyno pulls at this power level, and worse yet 12 trips down the track (which is the real test) and it has no issues.
Thats why its gonna get turned down, and used as a daily driver for a long while to come. I saved the tune, so all it takes this spring when the track opens again is a twist of the boost controller, load the tune, add some good gas and away it goes. Then turn the boost back down, load the pump gas tune, and drive her home.
Just wanted to see how far you could push everything from the factory, and really see what kinda bang for the buck you could get out of nothing more then a turbo kit. For the stock cam, I think that TQ is killer. Maybe someday it will get other mods, but being a daily driver doubt it.
Spring time goals are with drag radials is to be able to go to the track and run 11's with the pump gas tune, and 10's with the race gas tune with a 100 stock G8, no cam, no stall, all OEM. With a better tranny tune (still shifts late) I don't see any issues at all in that being able to happen. Pretty fun to be able to do with nothing more then a bolt on power adder.
I just wanna thank someone at GM for building such and amazing motor, and tranny. That it can take a 114% hp increase, and 119% gain and TQ, and make it down the track with no issues. (The tranny literally shifts super firm and crips, just need more track time to nail down when to actually shift it)

Disabled. I was worried with it on of it pulling so much timing it would make the EGT's get really high.
If I would have dynoed it before going to the track, I would have lowered the shift points to use more of the TQ. I was "flying blind" and just going with my seat of my pants as to where to shift the car. But looking at the graph now, I realize I was way to late on the shifts.
I only shifted really early on one pass for the 1-2 , 2-3 and 3-4 gear change, but royally hit the rev-limiter on the 4-5 shift and I lifted and still ran a 11.2@112 lol.... that would have been the killer pass had I naild the 3-4 shift
Live and learn I guess, live and learn.

Nice! Not sure all the stock components will always handle such abuse but glad to see someone not scared to test the limits. great job and great post.

Wouldn't learn the limits if someone didn't push them right?

G8'ers...it's good news to have someone like this on the board. If this is the same E.A. who had a wicked SN95 DOHC Cobra with a F-series Procharger...we're all the better for it. We both had some pretty strong Mustangs. I actually turned to E.A. for some tuning help when I was trying to get a base tune in my F.A.S.T. powered 97' Cobra. If this is you...good to see you over here Mr. Andre.

Very, very impressive EA. I'm with everyone else - very anxious for some video/sound of this beast. Sounds like the sleeper of all sleepers!

Yeah, I think on 7.5psi with pump gas (91) and the Magnaflow it will have no issues making around 480-500rwhp and 550-575rwtq based on what I have seen it do so far. Thats something that I won't have to worry about fuel quality, and still have the power to "wow" 3 passengers at a time.

Wow, small world the internet is. Dude hows it been going. Yes sadly I sold that cobra long long ago But I still have people ask me about it almost weekly.

Not god by any means. Just showing what a strong tranny/motor GM built, and how well these amazing little turbos are. I mean honestly, if I was a better driver they could have been a 10 second bolt on for a HEAVY sedan. It took me TONS of money to get my Cobra to run 10's and hold together for daily use..... this G8 was almost to easy.

I promise its coming. There is a video of my shut down pass of 11.2@112 I already found on another web forum. But I'll get the video up of the 11.00@129 and the dyno runs very soon.

Once I get back on the dyno at 7.5psi with the catback I am sure I can let you know what it will take to make that 500rwhp number Since I only had 10 degrees of timing in the car when it was 7.5psi and stock exhaust making 449rwhp/521rwtq on 91 octane junk gas.
Keep watching the HOB site, and once everything is finalized it will all be posted up there. Until then, I will do my best to answer questions.
