HOLDEN has given the cabin of its best-selling Commodore a big technology upgrade, with a new in-car entertainment system that includes touch-screen menus, a USB interface and a smart satellite navigation system that can guide the driver around traffic jams.
General Motors has just announced the filing of papers with the Securities and Exchange Commission for an Initial Public Offering (IPO) that will see the company handed back over to investors and removed from government control.
Including in the filing are plans for preferred stock that carries with it both debt and equity and also has priority in a bankruptcy situation.
According to a Bloomberg report, GM hopes to generate $16 billion by the IPO, selling off roughly a fifth of the stock currently owned by the U.S. Treasury. This would then make the government a minority shareholder in General Motors and is likely to be followed by continued sell-offs until GM is entirely out of government hands. Currently the U.S. government owns a 61 percent stake in GM.
GM has already paid back the $6.7 billion in loans it received from the U.S. and Canadian governments, however, that amount is only a small portion of the almost $50 billion bailout GM received.
Thanks to everyone that voted for me. Its great to have a unique community of enthusiasts with which to share my idea of the perfect G8. While my vision is still evolving, the car has come a long way in just over a year. I've relied heavily on the collective knowledge and resources of the G8 board to build the car. The list of modifications and improvements is fairly extensive, some visual but mostly performance. The car has put down 440 RWHP and 454 RWTQ with the current mods.

WHEELS/TIRES: Forgestar F05's... 19x9 front, wearing 245/40's and 19x10 rear, wearing 275/35's. BFG KDW's all around.
DRIVETRAIN: Monster Stage II clutch, Gforce 1320 axles, Powerbond UDP
With the exception of the suspension and drivetrain, I've done all of the work myself. I can honestly say that my GXP is the most enjoyable, most well rounded, most satisfying car I've ever owned. There is nothing the car doesn't do well and I love the fact that the G8 is so unique. We all have a lot to be proud of.
