solo cat back

My car has the solo cat back exhaust. I was already installer when I bought the g8 gt. My question is is there a gasket between the stock catalytic and the solo cat back tube?
Reason I am asking is that when I was under that today I noticed that a few pieces of rust came off. between the solo cat back flange and the flange of the catalytic.
Do the stock converter flanges rust out?

Thanks

There is no gasket between the two. As long as it's not leaking I wouldn't worry about it.

No leaks, just that catalytic flange is disintegrating.

The stock cats do have a graphite exhaust doughnut to seal between the cat and the cat back. Yes they do break down after a while. Any exhaust shop can replace them it you ever develop an exhaust leak.
