Drone with 100% stock exhaust?

My car is a 2009.5 G8 GT and it is 100% stock.

The car drones quite loudly at 75-80 MPH. I thought I recently fixed the problem because the upper bolt rusted through on the passenger side muffler flange and there was a half inch gap between the flange. I fixed that, and it helped somewhat but the car still drones loudly.

I have lost my point of reference of how the car used to be due to the gap in the exhaust. So for guys that still have a full stock exhaust, does it drone? I tried searching but could not come with any hits.

2010 Camaro RS/SS - 100% stock 13.05 @ 1-108.81 w/ a 1.99 sixty ft.

It shouldn't drone at all. The G8 GT stock exhaust is the quietest exhaust on any V8 car that I have ever heard. I recommend inspecting the entire exhaust system from the heads to the tail pipe and look for any leaks, holes, loose bolts, bad gaskets. Check if the O2 sensors are screwed in tight, check head exhaust gaskets for leaks. Maybe disconnect the exhaust from the midpipes and inspect that gasket. If your rear exhaust flange gasket was bad other gaskets may also be worn out.

Thanks for the input. I actually replace the entire h-pipe with a low mileage unit from a forum member, and I replaced all the gaskets and inspected everything. The only thing I didn't do was pull down the mufflers to see if there as a gaping hole in them.

But I am glad to hear that the car should have no drone, because I hate it.

I think then your next step is to start taking parts of the exhaust off and check for holes. I would start at the rear and work forward.
