I had Kirk turn DFCO completely off under 3k rpm. I prefer it this way. I'm also adding the Solo Bullet resonators to the car this weekend

Didn't see anyone post this but it can be tuned out. All it is from is the ECM backing out all the timing which in turn creates engine braking.... I personally like it though.

Um, my post right above yours is what needs to be done. It's the fuel cutoff to save fuel. It's not the car pulling timing. It is easy to tune it out though.

Um.... Last time I did the experiment DFCO (Decelerative Fuel Cut Off) pulls fuel out during deceleration to save fuel. If DFCO is disabled you will have more popping on decel, (more unburned fuel going through the exhaust.) The more harshly FCO is applied the less popping. Better yet, what I did in my own custom tune is leave DFCO enabled, and then reduce the severity of the coastdown/and Idle Spark retard as the ECM references those tables in No throttle situations to reduce the popping. I don't mean to make an argument out of it, but either way can reduce it, I just think my way is more efficient. The only down side is that you lose some engine braking effect and it doesn't return to idle as quickly when revved.

That's why I let [email protected] take care of all my tune stuff. I tell him what I want and he does it Kirk said he basically disabled DFCO below 3k rpms. I have virtually no pop/crackle on decel at all now. Above 3k or during spirited driving it's still there, but it makes for a much quieter daily driving experience.

Aussie gave a good explanation on page 2:

I like hearing it and make it do it when people are walking in the neighborhood and shift from 4th to 3rd and gives some good pops then hit the gas. Got to love it.

I love that popping sound on the decel. I wouldn't ever want to tune it out. I just drove my G8 4,000 miles round trip from Seattle to Phoenix, AZ and back and it never once bothered me having the popping noise. I even averaged 23.5 mpg with the AFM tuned off the whole trip.

I am thinking of putting an X Pipe on my V6. I have super turbos on at the moment. Do you think eliminating the mid muffler and putting in an x pipe will create some popping on decel. Right now I practically have zero. I'd like to have some

My wife was actually disappointed with hers when we got it cause the SLP powerflo didn't have the pop it was quiet. So I had to take the old SLP loudmouths from mine and put them on hers now its stupid loud and she's happy which is a win for me.
