The 67-69 Z28's were a total performance car,for handling,braking and accelerating,not anything for luxury,No Automatic until 1970, No A/C until 1973 !.Don't be fooled by the rediculous 290 HP rating at 5800 rpm,cause the original road tests when they figured it out were shifting at 7200 rpm ! where it put out prob 425hp at the motor.when jetted and curved with headers went easily mid 12's @107 and that was only the beginning as these would destroy many big block vehicles of the day,Chevrolet even offered optional headers,4 wheel disk brakes and 2 four barrel intakes and gearing if you did not like the standard 3.73 ratio.The SS was a more customer optioned vehicle,where you could order the standard SS that had a 350 cu in. that was exclusive to the Camaro SS in 67,nothing else had a 350 for chevy in 67,to 3 396 engines 325,350,375 HP,only that 375 hp would be close or faster to the Z then.You could order nearly everything on the SS,they even had an ice defroster for the rear tires that squirted a solution through a jet in the rear upper wheelwells on the rear tires when pressing a button on the dash! And the list keeps on going,I wish i was about 30 then !
